In the Shire there were two truths. The Tooks were odd and the Baggins were respectable. The Baggins family dealt in contracts and favours, and while the Shire knew that the Tooks were odd, it was the Baggins family that had other blood running through their veins.
Bilbo Baggins did not go running out his door for want of an adventure, he went running out his door because of a terribly worded contract and a laughable quest that somehow held the spark of other.
In this story, it is not the Tooks that held fae blood in their family tree, it is the Baggins, and theirs is so much closer to the surface.- Language:

After becoming increasingly irritated by overtures of romance from various Shire residents following the death of his mother four years ago, Bilbo is more than ready to resort to desperate measures. That is, up to and including pretending to be in a serious relationship with a certain surly blacksmith currently inhabiting the Bindbale Woods.
It's a good idea after all; all they have to do is pretend to be in love over the Yuletide period and Bilbo's family and suitors will surely leave him alone after that. It's perfect! And nothing can possibly go wrong, right? Certainly nothing as preposterous as falling for one another for real...

“When she considered the time taken to spin and dye the thread, to design the images and translate them to weaving and embroidery, her head span. She carefully lifted it and long, perfect pleats fell down the length of it. She hadn’t known women’s wrapping gowns were so full. She turned it to locate the sleeves and saw the pearlescent sheen on the lining. The warp threads were pink and the weft blue, so the angle of viewing changed its color. She had to sit down. As her fingers traced the edge of the lining, she imagined her mother knelt in front of her. ‘Feel it,’ Ed wanted to tell her, and guide her lye-worn hands to the silk, ‘it’s meant for us.’”

Summary
Ed reaches out, wordlessly, and takes the silver goblet from Stede’s hand. The way he handles it is downright reverent, and the whole crew is briefly stunned into silence as they watch him contemplate the object. It can’t be more than a minute or so, but it feels like an eternity passes. Finally, Ed breaks the silence, his voice barely more than a whisper: “It says ‘Creator of the fruit of the vine.’”
Stede is momentarily stunned: “Edward! I thought you couldn’t read!”
“Can’t read English – this is Hebrew.” He’s holding the goblet gently, as if it’s made of glass and not silver. “Borei pri hagafen. It’s a kiddush cup.”

After a raid, the crew finds a kiddush cup and set of candlesticks inside a crate of goods from a silversmith. After Stede hears Ed describe the Shabbat dinners of his childhood, he and the crew decide to put together their own.

Summary
For all his years at sea, Ed had only ever done this before he became Blackbeard. Willingly got on his knees for someone else. He gave his submission even more rarely. With the legend and reputation of Blackbeard, he’d packed up the part of him that begged for attention, that pleaded with the world for kindness and craved gentleness.
To be on his knees now, having willingly given his submission over to Stede Bonnet, the Gentleman Pirate he’d only met a handful of days earlier was almost unthinkable. Almost, because of the protective, fiercely satisfied grin on his face as he watched the French burn. Almost, because of the reverence in Stede’s touch as he bathed Ed. Almost, because of the gentleness in his hands as he brushed and braided his hair. Almost, because of the way Stede looked down at Ed with awe and wonder shining in his eyes, thumb tracing the shape of himself through Ed’s cheek, worship in his touch.
