“Askr…are you switching out the guard? For another one?” Askr stroked the ivory hair. He clutched it from behind, guiding Læraðr closer into the chair. The baby blues of Askr’s irises gave off an alluring glint.
“I’m taking the guard off, dear.”
Læraðr had promised Askr a gift of his choice. Now, he must follow through with it, having delayed the inevitable long enough. But he faces a crisis when Askr decides to…slightly change the plan.

“I am at a loss to even guess what you were thinking.”
Askr could not help but smile at the familiar voice, he had not even opened his eyes and yet Læraðr was already lecturing him. Feigning unconsciousness was not really his style, though it was doubtful that Læraðr would be fooled by such a ruse anyhow.
“They were in trouble, I offered what help I could.”
Inflicting mortal wounds on himself as a result, but Askr had never been the type to ignore those in need even when his own wellbeing was at risk. It could be argued that he had owed the sacrifice to the mortals, it had been his meddling in Embla’s affairs that had caused the situation they had found themselves in. From the noise that Læraðr made in response it did not sound like he thought it a good enough excuse. Askr risked opening one eye, which merely confirmed the the physician looked distinctly unamused.
“You gave them a single fruit from Yggdrasil then sent them back…Did you think that it would be enough?”
