“You did it for you, Belly. That’s all that matters.” He told her. “Let’s focus on you now, yeah?” Conrad used both hands to cup her cheeks, wiping tears away frantically with her thumb. “You need to breathe now. Just breathe.”

For a second, he thought he might have gotten through to her. For a second, he thought maybe she was going to step forward and touch his cheek. For a second, he was hopeful. But then her brows furrowed and she shook her head and he knew he was a fucking idiot.
“You will never be what Jere is to me.” Belly sounded angrier than he’d heard her in a long time—maybe ever. He knew, immediately and innately, that he deserved it. “You and I… you and I were never anything.”
His ears haven’t stopped ringing since.

Hopper. Standing with his back to the gate. Smiling softly, resigned. But filled with so much love.
Joyce. Watching, stretched impossibly thin. Understanding with a sense of grief, too terrible to name.
She turns the keys.
"Steve?" Jonathan is half out of the ambulance, using all of his weakened strength to keep Steve upright. "What's wrong?"
"Hopper. It's Hopper. He's gone." Steve doesn't know how he knows it, but he does.

"Whatever sick fears were brewing he needed to wash them out now, because this was Riverdale, and whatever twisted horrible stories floated by on the news as he moved through the house, did not happen here. He swiped open his phone and mindlessly clicked to call Jughead. The freezing had broken and was now replaced with a deep internal pounding that was pushing him close to the edge of panic. He could feel himself dangling- and if Jughead would just pick up his phone he’d be saved from falling into the scenario his mind was building; reaffirm the insanity in whatever Archie thought was happening.
Except Jughead didn’t pick up, and Archie fell."
(Archie clings to what he knows, a difficult task as his best friend has suddenly gone missing in a town that seems, very recently, to favor the unknown.)

She ignored the warning. “Or perhaps,” she said softly, “the beast doesn’t care about chains. Perhaps it only cares about the right stimulus. The right words. The right…” She trailed off, her gaze holding his. “…prey.”
Something changed.
It was subtle at first - the smallest quiver in his jaw, the way his breathing deepened. His pupils flared, catching the light oddly, too reflective. The tendons in his neck stood out as though something inside was pushing forward, wanting out.
“Don’t,” he said again, his voice strained now.
Wednesday did not step back. “Why?”
The answer came in a sound - not a word - but a low, guttural noise in his throat, the kind a man shouldn’t be able to make. The chain at his wrist snapped taut as his arm jerked involuntarily toward her, metal clanging against metal.

"What can I do to help?" Johnny asks as he spreads kisses on the back of Peter's neck. The bed is small for the both of them, but they're managing just fine, especially with how easy Peter fits against Johnny's body.
"What do you mean?"
"Well, you're doing your best. Fighting crime, working and studying, while I'm just taking up your bed. Not fair, is it? What can I do for you? Name it. I'll do anything."
Peter chuckles softly and turns in his arms, staring right at Johnny. "Just being here helps, Johnny," he says and presses a quick peck against Johnny's mouth. "So just be you and keep being you."
(Or, one of Reed's experiments goes wrong, and Johnny ends up stuck in the 616 universe. Falling in love with Peter wasn't part of the plan, but honestly, can you blame him?)
