"Did you find a foster?”“No.” Casey glanced through the window into the room. Frank faced away from them, but they could see the gentle rise and fall of his chest. “No one will take him. He’s going to have to stay here for treatment.”
“Can I foster him?” It was out of his mouth before he even realized. Sure, he wanted to ask, but he didn’t want to sound too eager about it. Casey gave him a withering, suspicious glare and he found himself rambling. “I want to. He’s a sweet kid, and I’m a doctor! I’m prepared to take care of him. And I live with my sister who is in school to be a doctor, too. And we have an accessible bathroom already, for after his surgery. My whole house is accessible! Ramps for wheelchairs and all one level. And! It’s a good neighborhood.”
“You got an ulterior motive?” Casey asked, thankfully cutting him off.
Robby hesitated. Her frown hardened and the words spilled out of him, “We clicked. He’s a good kid. I—I wanna adopt him.”

Summary
The first thing he hears when he wakes up is the steady beeping of a machine; he’s lying on an uncomfortable mattress, the upper half of his body propped up. His head is throbbing, like someone took a hammer and nails and went to town on his skull. The rest of his body isn’t much better; he feels like he just ran a marathon without any proper training. He tries to bring his hand up to his face to rub some feeling back into it, but it only moves a few inches before it’s stopped.
That makes him open his eyes, but the light in the room blinds him, making him blink a few times. When his vision finally adjusts enough to grant him sight, he sees that both his wrists are restrained by some sort of white fabric fastened on the rails of his bed.
Something is wrong. Something is definitely wrong.
Or: Frank wakes up without any memory of who he is. As he waits for his memories to come back, he’s left to navigate the complicated relationship he has with Robby, who seems incapable of talking about his feelings. What a fun time.

She didn’t even realize she’d tugged his hair harder until his head was tilted up under her touch, his eyes meeting hers.
And God, he looked ... wrecked.
Like he wanted her so badly, it scared him.
Like he couldn’t believe she was letting him touch her.
Like he was one breath away from falling apart if she told him to stop.
There was hunger there, yes, but also something rawer, something almost achingly sad in his desperate eyes. Belly’s throat felt tight. She didn’t know how to say "don’t stop", how to tell him that she wanted this just as much, maybe even more.
“Belly…?” His voice was low, uneven, like he wasn’t sure if he was awake.
She swallowed hard, her voice coming out barely above a whisper. “Please, Conrad, I need you clos-.”
It was all he needed from her. There was no going back from this moment forward.
