"Stupid human," Adrian hisses. "You would give up your chance for him just like that?"
"Yes," Grace says hoarsely.
"Anything for him."

After a few more agonizing seconds during which Peter weighs the possibilities that he just gave his mentor and the savior of the world a heart attack, Mr. Stark looks up at him, eyes suddenly wide.
A beat passes.
"What's your teacher's name again?"
AKA, Ryland Grace and Tony Stark hooked up in college. This is fine, until 20 years later, Peter Parker gets involved. It's all downhill from there.

Every screen in the room blazed with the same breaking news feed. An alien voice had just asked for him by name on live television.
“Mr. Grace?” little Jamal whispered from the front row, eyes huge behind his glasses. “Is that really you they’re talking about? Like, you you?”
Ryland’s mouth opened, but nothing came out. His heart slammed against his ribs like it wanted to escape and hide under the desk with the class hamster. He was just Mr. Grace. The guy who drew cartoon planets on the board, who stayed late helping kids glue together messy dioramas of the solar system, who once spent an entire lunch period comforting a sobbing girl because her goldfish had “gone to the great fishbowl in the sky.” He graded spelling tests on vocabulary words like photosynthesis and asteroid. Aliens did not know his name. Aliens did not ask for science teachers.
The marker slipped from his fingers and clattered to the floor.

"Can't what?" Truthless Recluse's hand moved up the virtue's waist, the material catching against the texture of his hands, calloused with work and other things beyond fount's comprehension. "Have you chosen yet?"
"Chosen?" It felt like each sentence become more confusing, as if Truthless Recluse spoke in mazes that twisted their shape with each glance . When the blond heard that hint of a question, he frowned.
"A name." It sounded almost agitated, but the rumble against the fount's skin sent something strange down the curve of his spine. "Or will you deny yourself that as well?"
Pale blue fingers pressed into the darkened robes further, as if he could will Truthless Recluse to stop speaking with that alone. "I—I am the fount—"
"Wrong."

Shadow Milk wants absolutely nothing to do with the foolish king and his absurd kingdom. Sure, he did sneak into that very palace's Jewel room, heart of the castle, and yes, he did try to steal half of their belongings. But he had his reasons. And that did not give them any right to make him endure this torture. To make him sit and listen to this bore of a king for all of eternity, he'd rather be sentenced to death. But the little thief knows that if he plays his cards right, he might just get what he wants after all.

He quickly opened up the door and shut it, far from willing to let the warm air out this time around. He opened up his jacket in order to place the rabbit on the couch. Its blood soaked the soft cushions, but he didn’t mind. It seemed well behaved after all. He left for the kitchen to grab some clothes and a few leftover medical supplies. While he was gone, he fully expected to feel the small rabbit again.
He instead felt smooth and plush skin.
