As the second son of Clan Arktos’ Lord Alpha, bear shifter Ilya Rozanov spends a lot of time working: on patrol, fixing broken pipes or roof tiles, training with the other guards, and generally trying to make the lives of his clan members easier. With no official title, he does what he can to make sure he has a place among his people.
Shane Hollander, a wolf shifter, is the only remaining member of his slaughtered pack. Rescued by Clan Arktos, Shane is grateful for a place to stay, at least until winter ends and he can move on.
It shouldn’t make sense, the way their brains and bodies scream compatible whenever they’re in the same room. After all, they’re both Alphas. But northern winters are long and despite their designations, there’s an undeniable pull between them. It's a pull that has Shane wondering if it might be worth staying after the winter ends.
But that pull might mean nothing if Shane can’t solve the mysteries surrounding the deaths of his murdered pack, and if Ilya can’t claim the role—if not by blood, then by his tireless dedication to his people—that he deserves.

Shane’s Montreal Metros. Shane’s mouth went dry. He took off his glasses, as though the slight tint would change anything, would rewrite what was stitched across Gilbert Comeau’s chest.
“What the fuck?” Rozanov balked.
“Maybe this is isn’t our timeline.” Shane uttered.
“What?” Rozanov laughed.
“Like maybe it’s an alternate reality.” Shane explained. Already, his chest felt tight. He could hear his heart in his ears, pounding with the thrum of the crowd. “Like from movies, or whatever.”
Ilya only stared at him, that look spreading across his face that Shane could never quite place. Now, though, he didn’t have time for any of this. Gilbert fucking Comeau was wearing his C, and Shane Hollander was nowhere to be found.
