Pentious drummed his claws on his console, staring out at the (currently not on fire, though who could say for how long) skyline of Pentagram City. He could have his Egg Boiz re-calibrate his cannons, of course – could fire a shot right into the centre of that cluster of nightclubs and sex shops. There was probably something flammable enough in there – it would make something of an impact.
His cheek sagged on his other hand, knuckles folded to his palm as his lids fell in a slow blink. Nothing had been happening, these past few weeks. Which was fine! He'd spent his time fine-tuning his latest laser cutter, making sure it was powerful enough to break through even the densest of bones – but he couldn't ignore the fact that it felt like something was missing.

And no, that wasn't a euphemism, more was the pity. Literally, this fuck had died – for her and everything – and actually gone to Heaven. The last thing he'd said to her was 'I love you' and 'remember me', and she'd barely exchanged a friendly word with him in their long years of turf wars.
They were good turf wars, though. Really got a girl's blood pumping, got her knickers all in a twist, if you get what Cherri was saying. Yeah, alright, she'd pounded one out after a good fight, but who the fuck hadn't? It wasn't like it ever meant anything.
At least – she hadn't thought it meant anything.

Pentious is finally allowed down for a visit. He and Cherri have a lot of catching up to do, and some things just aren't the same anymore. They can fix that.

“N-Nav,” Harrow’s voice came out in a breathy staccato.
Gideon had her pressed up against the bathroom door (holy fuck), her hands on Harrow’s slutty little hips (holy fuck), roaming upwards underneath her black sweater. She hoped to god that she wasn’t making an absolute ass out of herself—or god forbid, what if she barfed?? If she vommed on Harrow while feeling her up, she might as well jump off the south tower of the UC and actually Fucking Do It This Time.
“Enjoying the view, Nav?” Harrow found her voice. Even drunk and in such a compromising position, she found a way to remain haughty and annoyed.
“Harrow,” she near-begged. “C-Can I?”
Harrow seemed over overcome her momentary shock and looked down at her over the bridge of her nose. “Can you what, Nav?” She was failing to hide the curve at the corners of her mouth. “Use your words.”

Gideon froze on hands and knees as the gun dug into her stomach, just above her hip.
Beneath her, the woman sucked in rasping breaths made all the more difficult by the skull affixed overtop her face. Gideon could see the sharp lines of her chin, and the curve of her lower lip, and nothing else; the skull’s teeth and cheekbones obscured all other features, and the gaping sockets revealed darkness interrupted by only the briefest glimpse of the whites of the woman’s eyes.
Gideon bared her teeth, breath coming fast and tight.
“Now just why’n the hell you gotta go and-”
“Why do I have to–wait, hold on–”
“Yeah, why do you have to go sneaking up on me, damnfool y’are–”
“Wait–Griddle?”
The whites of those skull-socketed eyes grew wider. Gideon felt her stomach tighten, a welling of dread like the tickle of scorpion claws felt on the legs.
“... Ain’t no damn way.”

Gideon blinked. She must have hallucinated, or maybe she actually had fallen asleep already and was now dreaming. But Harrow didn't open her eyes, and looked rather like she wanted to crawl into a hole and die.
Gideon propped herself up on her elbows and said, "I'm sorry?"
"Earlier, in the pool..." Harrow paused and took another deep breath. "You kissed me. On the nose. I think I would like you to kiss me again. If you want to."
"On the nose?"
"The nose, or...anywhere else you might like to?"
"Is this a trap?"
