Summary
Obi-Wan is finally away from his Sith captors - but only because someone else has decided to kidnap him now. Waking up in the hands of a wayward Chiss ship, Obi-Wan must decide whether or not his morals call for him to help these people, or if they're just as bad as his previous captors... even as he comes to the realization that maybe Darth Maul and Savage weren't so bad.
Meanwhile, Maul and Savage must decide just how far they'll go to recover their Seer. (The answer is pretty damn far. Off the edge of the known galaxy, in fact.)

The Sith's wings are black and leathery over their twisted frame of off-white bone, oily black smoke clinging to their every movement. When his saber ignites, one wing lights too, the protective net of kyber energy crackling over the mutated appendage. Then, the second blade appears, and both wings flare a bright, bloody red.
Obi-Wan swallows his nervous gulps and lights his own saber. He doesn't have to look to know the blue energy has spread across his copper feathers, can feel it crackling and humming in the Force, where it is quickly accompanied by Qui-Gon's own green blade and shield.
He has a bad feeling about this.

The longhouse was quiet in the night. The fires had burned low, only glowing embers left in the basins now. The air had a cool bite to it. Obi-Wan buried his nose in the fur covers, and huddled closer to his Master, curving his back into Qui-Gon’s chest.
Qui-Gon hummed, a deep and pleased rumble, and tightened his arm around Obi-Wan’s waist, pulling him deeper into his embrace. His breath was hot on the nape of Obi-Wan’s neck.
“Can’t sleep?” Qui-Gon asked. He nosed against the sensitive spot under Obi-Wan’s ear, and kissed him there.
Obi-Wan can't sleep; Qui-Gon assists. There are some witnesses.

Neat, basic earth-colored tunics and trousers that don’t feel awful on. Calling one of them by their formal title. Coming up to them and crying, projecting a messiness so potent in the Force he knows they can both read every bit of it. Even if they don’t understand.
“Oh,” Obi-Wan says, voice as clear as a bell. He smiles again, smaller this time, and Anakin wants to reach out and hold him, wants to reach out and wrap both hands around his godsdamned throat. “It’s you.”

There happened to be a ship heading to Bandomeer, and the Jedi Corps there was in need of a ploughman - and apparently since Obi-Wan hadn’t found the favor of a Jedi Master by the age of almost-thirteen, that was all he was good for.
Or: the fic where instead of ending up with Qui-Gon Jinn as his master, Kenobi ends up dragged into a mess decades in the making - Dark Jedi with grudges, Sith that are more than just bedtime stories to scare Initiates with, and an ability that Kenobi would never, ever call a Gift.
