Gods above, if he knew this would have happened, he wouldn’t have dared to try to run off with Martyn’s life. It had been an idiotic and reckless idea. He’d known that as soon as the idea came into his head, but he hadn’t had a choice. The other Southlanders were growing restless and suspicious as the games continued and more people lost their lives. It was only a matter of time before they’d realized he was a burden and threw him to the wolves to try to strengthen their team. After all, he was the canary; the harbinger of misfortune and death. However, he hadn’t realized his desperate attempt to save himself would end with him literally thrown to the wolves.
Or, Jimmy makes a mistake and it goes badly for him, luckily he has a protective sister and boyfriend-who-isn't-really-his-boyfriend who'll help him out

Something fierce and sharp and hurt rears in his chest. The kind that had shortened his breath and tightened his fists when Cleo hadn't stopped laughing and Scar hadn't started listening. His next inhale is quick and feels like lava under his ribs. And the smell of smoke and char and ash and the heat rising in his chest and cheeks becomes dizzying. He jolts to throw off the covers - and the anger is chased by a vicious embarrassment and helplessness when Grian's wing jerks off him as he rises - but he can't be here any longer with someone who's not going to take him seriously. He can't.

All of this stress cumulates to one evening when a powerful storm hits Sanctuary.

Um,” he stares at Scott for a moment longer. “Can I, uh, can I come in? Or,” he allows himself to trail off, still watching Scott. The crown certainly suits him, at least, even though the pinkish-orange colour of the coral is not something he’d ever have considered to go well with cyan.
The door swings open in front of him, and he almost startles at the abruptness of it, jerking his hand back and down to his side. “So,” Scott’s grinning, that grin that makes his teeth look far sharper than they actually are, “you've come crawling back, have you?”
“It’s,” he laughs, inching forward, “It’s not crawling back, it’s…sheepishly wandering in.” He smiles a little as he continues to inch his way forward, sliding past Scott and through the rather narrow ‘doorway’ when Scott doesn't move to stop him from entering.

Jordie Rietveld stood in the doorway panting lightly from exertion, nervousness oozing from every pore in his body, but with his back ramrod straight. “I need your help,” he said.
Kaz was tempted to slam the door in his face and lay down in his bed to sleep off whatever hallucinogenic concoction the Black Tips had managed to slip into his coffee that morning. Maybe Jesper had a point about him needing to catch more sleep.

Scott’s already placed down his cup, reinvigorated with a determined, curious, glint in his eye that Cleo sees so often in witches with their passions. At least he’s not merging with her cushions, “Are you serious?”
