angsty, but the best pokemon worldbuilding I can recall ever reading. also, not completely ridiculous pokemon battles. the fact I feel the need to call that out, I think that says everything you need to know about the average pokemon fanfic. This one might deserve your time because the world is such a cut above the rest, and the plot's no slouch either (just a bit angsty and long-winded).
