No beating around the bush, no excuses, he was just going to tell him. No time seemed right, so he would just have to get it out before he lost his nerve for the umpteenth time.
(And, if Arthur did have a problem with it, it wouldn’t be the first time Merlin had knocked him out.)
Marching to Arthur’s chambers, he rehearsed what he was going to say.

You've read the three stanzas that we have of "The fall of Gil-galad" translated by Bilbo Baggins, This is my attempt to expand on that and tell the story of the life and fall of Gil-Galad. From his birth in Nargathrond, to the creation of Lindon, his kingdom, to the war and his final confrontation with Sauron, fighting beside Elendil "in Mordor where the shadows are", here the tale of Gil-Galad is told. Knowlege of the Silmarillion is probably needed to understand this, so... if you're unfamilliar with it it might be rough going. Hope you like it, and I'd welcome your comments.

“Are you out of your mind?” the leader demanded. “Do you know who I am? I’m Arthur Pendragon.”
“I don’t care if you're the emperor of planet Camelot - drop your weapons.”
“Arthur, you should probably do as he says,” one of his friends urged, already reading to drop his weapon.
One by one, Arthur’s companions kicked their pulse rifles over to Merlin. When he saw that he had lost their support, he followed suit, sighing dramatically as he tossed it onto the floor.
Keeping his own pulse rifle on them, Merlin kicked theirs further down the hallway.
“Happy?” Arthur snarked. “Now, is there any tea on this spaceship?”
“Excuse me?”

The author is amazing at delving deep into Maverick and his unresolved PTSD, infusing the events of the film with his perspective in a superbly accurate manner. Plus, the ending--!!!
