“Is that a fucking suit?”

“Shut up,” Shane replies, crossing his arms over his chest as if that’ll hide the suit he’s wearing. “I… I didn’t know what to wear to this sort of thing.”

Ilya throws his head back, leaning against the opposite wall. “Oh my god, Hollander, you look ridiculous.”

Shane should throw something at him, he really should, or maybe he should kick him out of his hotel room, but he doesn’t. He lets Ilya get his giggles out, his rival placing his hands on his knees as if trying to keep himself from collapse. “Are you done yet?”

Another snort leaves Ilya, then he puts his hands on his hips. “Sorry, sorry, I—“ He’s interrupted by more laughter, Ilya’s eyes giving him another once over. “I did not expect you to uh… dress-up?”

Or Shane doesn’t change out of the suit during his first time with Ilya. As told from both of their perspectives.

A contented hum leaves Ilya, then he turns around, scooping Shane into his arms. “And you’re a good dad.”
“I still can’t believe that’s real.” Shane brushes his fingers over Ilya’s cheek, as if grounding himself to reality. “I can’t believe she’s ours.”
Though it’s dark, he can see Ilya’s smile. “Lily Rozanov-Hollander.” He presses a kiss to Shane’s nose. “Has nice ring to it.”
Five years after their marriage, Ilya and Shane decide to expand their family.

Looking down at his finger, Ilya’s eyes go wide. “What happened last night?”

“I was sort of hoping you’d tell me.”

Or Shane and Ilya wake up together after a night in Vegas… which wouldn’t be a problem if they hadn’t, apparently, gotten married.

Footsteps come running over, Shane grasping at Ilya’s face, his shoulders, worry in his eyes as he looks him up and down as if making sure he’s okay. “What is it? What happened?”

“There’s a fucking creature on your mirror, Hollander,” Ilya tells him, gesturing far wider than he needs to. “This big. Is enormous.”

“It can’t be that big,” he mutters, then he opens the door, and starts laughing. “Oh my god.”

“Close the door, Shane, we can’t let it out!”

“What?” Shane opens the door even wider, the creature now fully visible in the light. It’s just as terrifying from far away, the eye spots making Ilya feel like it’s staring at him. It sees into his soul—it’s going to come for Ilya in the night and crawl all over him. Disgusting. “It’s just a moth, Ilya.”

A bug has entered the cottage. Shane is totally cool about it. Ilya is not.

Ilya hums, running a hand up and down Shane’s arm. “See? You are worried about nothing.”

“I know, I just… I’ve had this hanging over me for years, and now that it’s over with…”

“You look lighter,” Ilya tells him, brushing his fingers against Shane’s cheek. “More peaceful.”

“I feel lighter, but I’m scared,” he admits, fingers drifting down to Ilya’s abdomen, tracing the lines and ridges he finds there. “We’ve never done this before—the actually being together part. I’m scared I’ll mess it up.”

Shane and Ilya return to the cottage after the confrontation with Shane’s parents.

Everyone's day gets markedly more chaotic when Shane--an Alpha--goes into labor mid-game against New York. It's a good fucking thing the Raiders are playing North Carolina.
