Summary
Curse him. Curse his name and this supposed gift he’d given of life. Even Javert’s final thought, submerged willfully in the cold waters of the Seine, was littered with the remnants of Jean Valjean. Let him be free. Let the water wash away the curse inflicted on his soul. Let him die now, too tormented to wait in agony for a natural death, even if it meant the remainder of his soul would go to Lucifer’s domain. Let his eternal life be one of misery, as he deserved. Perhaps Valjean would meet him there, but Javert did not think it so.
Rescued from the Seine by a determinably anonymous benefactor, Inspector Javert struggles to cope with the consequences of being left alive.

“There is sand in your hair,” whispered Jean Valjean, threading his fingers into that great tangled mane, which felt incredible on a bad day, and on this one made Javert’s eyes roll back into his head, and his knees weak. He clung desperately to Valjean’s shoulders, and Valjean chuckled. “That always works on you.”
“I suppose you have learned to press my buttons,” Javert breathed hungrily, and with great effort he pulled away from Valjean. “I think I must press some of your own.”
And without another word, Javert sunk down onto his knees.

That is Obi-Wan’s promise, and that is what he will do.
Unless, that is, a certain Sith Lord gets to him first.

Summary
In the wake of Grievous’s death, Palpatine has been arrested by the Jedi. As his trial in the Senate approaches, Padmé struggles to balance motherhood with trying get the Chancellor convicted of treason, which is difficult when the whole government sits in his pocket.
Meanwhile, Ahsoka doesn’t know what to do with herself, Anakin is not even remotely traumatized, no sir, and Obi-Wan does not have even the slightest urge to throttle Palpatine with his bare hands.
After all, that would be most uncivilized.
