Captain John MacTavish had a problem. This was not new; as the one in charge of the 141 he had to deal with a great deal of problems of various calibers. It's a plea, only barely disguised as an offer and for a moment Hitoshi panics about what Aizawa must have seen, what signs he must have spotted on Hitoshi before he shoves it all down.
There's a split second where he debates saying something, where his mouth opens and his tongue starts to move but then he remembers who he is.
There is no way Hitoshi can say any of what's happening at home. He learned to keep his mouth shut, to not say more than is absolutely necessary and despite his own feelings on the matter, this isn't necessary.
