Summary
Rudo wished he stayed in bed today.
Suffering from a horrible headache Rudo manages to still get dragged out of his room and onto a mission by none other than his mentor and teacher, Zanka. The prick had a way of making him actually want to learn something, a skill truly necessary when dealing with teenagers, especially one such as Rudo.
Loading into the company van team Akuta gets to hear about supposedly smart trash beasts, unknowing of what lay in wait and unsuspecting of the grousome injury one of them was about to suffer.

Rudo gets horribly injured on a job, is a little spitefull shit about it, and realises that maybe Zanka isn't all that bad of a guy.OR, OR:

Knuckles, Sonic, Amy, and Tails returned a few weeks ago after disappearing for an entire month. Knuckles, Amy, and Tails are fine. Sonic is decidedly less so, but he won't talk to anyone about it. In a last-ditch effort, Knuckles sets his pride aside to ask for Shadow's help. Before Shadow can formally make a decision, Sonic's issues reach a new point: he's lost all rationale and starts blindly attacking his friends. Now, Shadow has to stop Sonic from hurting anyone (including Sonic himself) while also figuring out how to help Sonic.

Summary
Shadow is a supervillain. He is Ultimate, one of the worst in the city. He deserves the death penalty before he deserves fondness and affection, but he gets exactly that when he indulges the vigilante Phantom, also known as Sonic.
He also doesn't deserve a family, but after one of the heroes kills Sonic, Shadow finds it impossible to abandon Tails, Sonic's remaining family.
And he definitely doesn't deserve a second chance to make things right, but the universe seems quite insistent on giving him what he doesn't deserve.
