Summary
There was a steady beat of laughter in the darkness, something reminiscent of greatness. A sword buried in stone, forever trapped and suffocated. There was a weight on his shoulder, as spindly and light as a feather or flesh. He could feel the fingertips, the pads that carried malice, whisked away by something much more fragile. A ghost.

Summary
Tommy’s smile was a tired thing, stretched and berated. But he took Wilbur’s hand and reveled in the warmth he gave. He bled into Wilbur’s skin, it trickled and congealed to his own thin scars.
When he stood he reached Wilbur’s shoulder, a companion, a soldier. The view of the side of his face was sickeningly familiar.
So Wilbur began to talk and laugh and Tommy began to topple and stumble.
“This person Tommy, God, I have to make sure my apology is perfect-- I have wronged them so many times,”

Summary
The day Tommy arrived it was raining.
The doorbell rang. Wilbur’s eyes drifted to the time: 9:18, it read.
“I'm coming!” He shouted bitterly. He sucked in a breath, trying to compose himself before he opened the door with a strong grip.
The door swung open to reveal a blonde who was hugging a bag to his chest. His hair was flat with rainwater and rain dripped down his thin figure. The storm thundered behind him, thick gray clouds covered the sky, but also lingered in his unfriendly blue eyes.
But the ice in his eyes didn’t melt away once he saw Wilbur, they only sent icicles into his unexpecting heart. Wilbur’s anger was washed away, replaced with utter confusion. Wilbur braced the doorframe, shock hitting him with enough force to rip his breath away as he said, “Tommy?”

Tommy hasn't been home for four years, running from the grief hiding within. Yet, when circumstances force him back, he can't help but fall back into their arms. But, things have changed more than he thought in four years, rumors of death and drugs are in the air. Tommy has a feeling he's at fault for all of this, so he's determined to fix it. But first, he has to find out what really happened.

Then there came a sound of understanding and a short statement from where Tommy forgot to check if the door was locked, “I get it now,”
Tommy spun around, hiding his hands behind his back trying not to flinch at the way his raw skin rubbed against his coat. His eyes fell on Techno who was leaning against the doorframe.
“What?” Tommy said, his voice quieter than he intended.
“I get it now,” He repeated himself as he stalked closer, “the bruises,” He clarified, “but if I may be so bold,”
He had to tilt his head up slightly to see Techno’s face. “Your form is way off,” he contended shortly but not rudely.“I don’t know what you are talking about,” Tommy lied, rather badly as well. Still, he tried to walk around Techno, tried to get out the door and away from this conversation.
But before he could slip away Techno caught one of his hands. He had to bite his tongue to not let out a wail at the sudden force on his wounds. Tommy tried to tug his hand away but was met with Techno’s brown eyes looking at him and telling him to stop.

“It’s alright,” Wilbur reassured, trying to keep the boy talking as he leaned back against the counter across from Tommy. “What happened?”
“My parents were fighting again,” he stated simply. He shifted uncomfortably atop the counter, trying to wrap the coat around him more with only one hand. “And I don’t know why,” He kept fidgeting with the coat, becoming more and more frustrated. “And-” His eyes began to water, his small voice shrinking more.
Wilbur moved from his reclined spot to help him, reaching for his cup. “And now Christmas is ruined!” He exclaimed, near startling Wilbur.
Wilbur, knowing now that Tommy’s Christmas didn’t have a great start, he was determined to fix it.

Christmas day isn't going so great for Tommy but Wilbur is there to fix it.

Summary
“Look, Wilbur," Technoblade started. "I don’t know what kind of situation you pulled Tommy out of and, frankly, it’s none of my business. But Tommy seems happy here. Don’t do yourself the disservice of thinking that has nothing to do with you.”
Wilbur didn’t say anything. He and Tommy were alike in that way: Doubt was built into their bones.
“I couldn’t do what you’re doing, Wilbur. Most people probably couldn’t.”
“They could.” Wilbur sounded so certain. “For Tommy, they could.”
“But have they?”
That question seemed to take Wilbur out at the knees. “They should have,” he said fiercely.
“They should have,” Technoblade agreed. “But a lot of people have let Tommy down.” He squeezed the nape of Wilbur’s neck and the kid leaned into it, his head falling towards Technoblade’s shoulder. “They’ve let you down too.”
Wilbur was quiet.
“Tommy didn’t deserve it. I think we can both agree on that." Technoblade’s voice was soft above Wilbur’s head. "Can we agree on something else too?”
Wilbur hummed unsteadily.
“You didn’t deserve it either.”
