Unable to adjust to life in the wake of the American Civil War, Steve heads West looking for a new start. After Tony Stark talks him into coming to an obscure mountain town to serve as Deputy, Steve begins to investigate the outlaw gang calling themselves 'Russian Winter', only to find himself fixated on the outlaw who reminds him inexplicably of his childhood friend Bucky.

Read this even if you'd never normally touch a western with a barge pole. The description is beautiful, the author really knows her stuff, and the characterizations are just wonderful. I loved how she worked MCU canon into the Civil War period.

Summary
The Trinity universe is a D/s, soul-bond AU. MCU-inspired and fused with random wisps of comics. The series is focused on Bucky, Clint, and Natasha, escaped prisoners who must each follow their own unique route to recovery from the horrors of their past.
The first two stories (Trinity and Volition) are focused on Bucky's story and can be read individually or together as a complete story.
The third story (Concordance) is focused on Clint and can be read as a standalone.
Natasha's story will be written last.

"He's not a bird," Raleigh tells Dallan in a quiet, disappointed (relieved?) aside. Mako is perfect in all other regards, but Kazuki is a tall, sleek housecat, smoke gray with faded, darker gray stripes, a weird kink to his tail at the end. He's not a bird at all.
"It's not like that's necessary," Dallan replies, and pecks his skull with the smooth top curve of her vicious beak, so he'll only bruise and not bleed.

One of the best AUs I've ever read. I'm no expert in WWII, but this felt impeccably researched and read like it could have been real. And Danny, Steve and Chin Ho were just amazing.
