“Is that why you’re here at,” Nico checks the imaginary watch on his wrist. “Three in the morning? To watch tv with me?”
Jack makes a face. “Is that so weird?” They used to do this all the time. Or Jack would be reading a book and Nico would be scrolling though his phone. They would normally be a lot closer than they are now, though. Jack would take any opportunity to tuck his feet under Nico’s thigh, or his head against Nico’s shoulder, or his hand under Nico’s shirt to steal some of his warmth. Sometimes they would just lazily make out, too tired to lead to anything. Even if Jack isn’t allowed to have that anymore, he wishes Nico would just—
“It’s not weird,” Nico answers, all sincere like he really put thought behind it. “But probably not the best idea.”

Nico clears his throat. “Well, if I’m fighting for the title this season, then it’s probably against Hughes.”

Nico sits on his bed and grabs his phone for the first time in a few hours. “You don’t even have a significant other,” he comments.
“Apparently I do now,” Jack mumbles loud enough for Nico to hear.
His head snaps up. He didn’t know Jack was seeing anyone. “Who?”
“I told Quinn that I was thinking about bringing you,” Jack tells him. Nico opens his mouth to say something but Jack continues talking. “Please do this one thing for me. It’s just two weeks of pretending to be my boyfriend. I owe you one if you do this to me. Pretty please, Nico?”
What can he say to that? No? The way Jack is practically pleading with him. He sounds desperate for Nico to do this for him. Jack is his best friend. He’s in love with Jack, which means that Nico could never say no to him.

Jack makes a proposal for Nico to be his boyfriend for two weeks after the season ends and Nico cannot say no to Jack

The two fell back into place as if they'd never left. Michigan had that power somehow. No matter how long it had been since they'd seen each other. No matter how they left off--as soon as they were back together here, they were just as they were the summer before.
Neither of them could really explain how they became what they are in the summer.
It was simple though. During the season, they were good friends. That's what all the interviewers called them, right?
So they were good friends. Until the summer hit.
During the summer, they were...together, let's just say. Even though they never really discussed it, there were clear lines. They could be with whoever the fuck they wanted to during the season but during the summer they were only each others'. It was simple.

"Objectively speaking," Jack looked up from his phone over to Trevor, "Do you think I'm a good kisser?"
The boy said nothing, his eyes surprised and lips parted.
He cleared his throat before he answered, kept his eyes on Trevor wondering if it was a trick question. But Trevor just stared at him seriously, raising his eyebrows.
"Well?" he asked.
"With how much you talk?" Jack smirked, "I can only imagine."
Or, three times Jack and Trevor told themselves it didn't mean anything and the one time they couldn't lie anymore.
