This fic is largely an exploration of Adam's character post-Bathroom Trap, tied in with his past and constant angst.

This is what Lawrence tells Adam before dragging himself out of the bathroom and leaving him screaming and sobbing alone.
He's told a few days later that Adam is dead. All Lawrence could do was try to move on and go back to his life- but with the emptiness of his apartment and the volume of his thoughts, the guilt becomes suffocating. He finally decides he needs some form of closure- he needs to keep his promise. He has to go back for Adam. But when the heavy metal door to the bathroom is dragged open, Lawrence Gordon finds himself faced with the reality that Adam is not dead... but not quite alive either.-------------------------------------------
Lawrence Gordon survives the bathroom trap, but the guilt eats at him until he caves and goes back for closure. Upon learning the man he left for dead has been alive the entire time, alone and starving in the dark, Lawrence knows he has to make things right for Adam.Bookmarked by TechJacket

Summary
The two of them sat on the edge of Lawrences bed, a death sentence at their heels. Come tomorrow, Lawrence could be made an accomplice to murder and Adam was being taunted with the same fate. So they held each other, finding what comfort they could in the others warmth.
“Adam…” Began Lawrence, hushed and strained. He remembered Adam’s face in the bathroom. How scared he looked as Lawrence left, how he screamed his name, how he pleaded with his eyes for him to stay before asking-
Are we gonna be okay?
I wouldn’t lie to you.
Lawrence meant it then, and he meant it as he wrapped his arms further around Adam, whose insistent shaking had not stopped. “Adam, we’re going to be alright. Somehow… Eventually, we’re going to be alright.”

Lawrence could have died if he had stopped that bleeding any later. But here he was, still kicking (as a manner of speaking—he would not, in fact, be kicking anything anytime soon). Even as the corners of his vision began to blur in a hazy vignette, he knew he would survive this despite everything. He knew what he had to live for.
"Adam," he croaked, looking back the way he came. "I have to… Go back for Adam, or he's gonna die… I promised. You have to send someone…"
But the old man in the hallway didn't say anything. He just gave Lawrence an empty smile.

Summary
He couldn’t believe that he was going to die in a fucking bathroom, surrounded by death and the smell of shit. His future had never been particularly bright, but this was a little ridiculous. He sighed, the wheeze of it tearing at his throat. Even if he had managed to get out of there, there wasn’t much for him to go back to- his landlord had been hounding him for late rent for months now, and Adam didn’t have the money for him. That’s what he’d taken the damn stalker job for.
A hysterical laugh bubbled up in his throat. He was about to die, and he was stressing out about fucking rent. Stupid.

Adam leans back onto his pillow and closes his eyes, picturing the face he’d been staring at for hours in that bathroom. He’d been sure he was dead. Hell, Lawrence already looked like a fucking ghost before he’d even reached the gun. And once he’d crawled out that door, Adam couldn’t stop picturing Lawrence bleeding out in the hall, everything he’d sacrificed, all for nothing. It made him sick to his stomach.
But Lawrence lives, and now Adam can’t think of anything other than seeing him again.
