As Arthur hit the water, he regained consciousness and started to flail, panicking.
“Hey, hey,” said Merlin, holding Arthur’s face, Arthur's eyes were wide as he freaked out. “It’s okay, I’ve got you. You’re fine.
“No, no, you don’t—” Arthur went taut and cried out, “—you don’t understand, You need to leave, Merlin. Go. Now!”
“Arthur? What? I don’t…” Merlin began, as a large tentacle emerged from the water.
“Please Merlin, it’s dangerous.” begged Arthur. “I can’t have anyone around me when it happens. Please, just leave while you still can.”
Merlin stood watching partly in horror and partly in fascination as Arthur’s legs seemed to fade away, instead transforming into a flail of tentacles which thrashed the water.
“Merlin, you idiot! LEAVE!” he bellowed.
