    "You know..." Brandy began softly, her fingers drumming an even rhythm on the tabletop.

    "If your name only reminds you of... Unpleasant memories, you can change it."

    Surprised, Spruce looked up at her. Brandy's expression was neutral, her eyes gently observing him as she cradled her head in one hand. Relaxed, seemingly, despite the seriousness of her tone.

    "What do you mean?"

    She splayed her free hand out and shrugged, a few of her long red locs slipping over her shoulder.
    "Names are... Well, they don't have to be something that holds us back. If it anchors you to the past, you can change it. Get rid of it. Define yourself rather than let it define you. I did it."
