“What?” Zoey asks, glancing up from her phone again. “What’s up, Ru?”
“There’s a perk that makes roaches love me,” Rumi says back. She sounds genuinely giddy at the prospect. “It’s either that or extra stamina. So...roach love, or extra stamina?”
Zoey opens her mouth to helpfully relay advice that she knows Rumi will like, but then she hears that fucking upgrade console noise go off, and before she can even ask or clarify or do anything at all, Rumi is saying, “Roach love.”
God. Zoey wants her so bad it makes her feel stupid.

Zoey jumps with a scream, but she doesn’t react as strongly as Mira, who fully shoves herself into Zoey’s arms and nearly makes the younger girl collapse and drop to the hardwood. Zoey only staggers and swears, her legs shaking.

Zoey had tried to be optimistic, but she's starting to think that the mansion might not have been the best idea. It’s dark. It's old. It’s a bit creepy. It’s a little far from where she works. The stairs creak when she steps on them, and the light flickers when they stomp too hard while walking across the bedroom. And as much as Zoey is trying to deny it, they just might have a mice problem. But Zoey is not implying anything about Derpy's hunting skills.Most importantly, it might need an exorcism. Zoey is really beating herself up over not thinking of getting an exorcism first. She didn’t even burn any sage. You buy an old house, and you exorcize it. Everyone knows that. Actually. While she’s thinking about it. Who buys the decrepit old house the realtor refuses to go into?

Summary
After her voice failed during the Golden Live Show practice, Rumi ran. What she didn't consider was Zoey and Mira following her. Them finding out she is a demon goes nothing like she thought it would.
Now, Rumi's patterns won't stop spreading, and she can't deny the connection she feels to the honmoon. She also can't deny how weak it seems to be getting. Gwi-ma probably knows they were about to seal the honmoon for good and has something planned. Something big that has every cell in Rumi's body vibrating.
If that wasn't enough, there's also this stupid fluttering in her stomach every time Zoey and Mira get close to her, which has been happening more and more since they saw her patterns.

“Oh Rumi” she says, cupping her cheek, the warmth of her palm sinking into her skin.
“Don’t ruin these young girls' lives. Leave them alone. They have a whole world ahead of them” Celine pulls away and heads for the door but at the last moment she turns to look back at her, “don’t let your selfishness be the thing that kills them”
or. What if Celine hadn't turned Rumi into a hunter? what if she had seen the abomination of a child that had been left to her and thought she might as well turn her into something useful.
and then set off to find the next generation of hunters.

Celine says, “Cover those up,” and says “You are not like them Rumi.” She tells Rumi that she only has patterns because her dad was a demon and the Gold Honmoon will erase them. Neither of them says that Rumi is not a demon.
Celine says, ‘You can be fixed’ and Rumi hears ‘You can be spared, if you are fixed.’
What Celine tells her is she is different from them, but not different enough.
