Summary
There was something about the Renaissance that was both incredibly overwhelming as well as painfully familiar.
In many ways, it felt like home. In other ways, it was nothing like Desmond had expected it to be.The Animus was not entirely accurate in its depiction of the time. It left some things out and changed others but it was definitely close enough for Desmond to get by. Rome was very different from how it was in Desmond’s time but the layout was mostly the same as were the larger buildings like the Colosseum and the Vatican.
It made Desmond believe everything had all been a bad dream. That he was still underneath Villa Auditore, hiding from the Templars while spending countless hours inside the Animus. Only when he got out of the Temple and got to the surface did he realise that this was not the case. This was not just Heavy Bleeding, like Desmond experienced the past few weeks, this was real. Terrified at the implications, Desmond did what he had been taught to do best.
He hid.

Midoriya Izuku led an average, if depressingly hard life as far as anyone could see, not that anyone bothered to. He had a roof over his head and food and water and the basic essentials for a kid his age. The foster system was cruel though, especially to a kid like him. So he coped. He wrote exhaustive theories and notes on heroes and quirks in his notebooks. He took long walks to stay away from people who targeted him (even if the timing of those walks was questionable). And he faded into the background, where no one would go looking for him, where he could just exist.
But eventually, something was bound to go wrong.

And… Izuku can’t remember the last time someone made breakfast for him. It must have been years. Probably before he taught himself to use the stove. Despite himself, he feels tears pricking his eyes.

Poseidon would never lay a hand on his own son, even when he was angry. So there was a singular conclusion and it took a moment to accept. He didn’t want to be, but if he was correct… The god lowered himself to his knees so he was at eye level with his eighteen-year-old son. “Percy?"
“G…” He almost choked on his words. “I-It was… it was him, dad…” He clung to himself, blue sweatshirt sleeves pulled over his hands and arms pulled up to his chest.
The god was quiet for a moment. “Percy, I am only going to ask this once.” His tone remained calm, but it was firm, yet not unkind. “Did Gabe abuse you?”

Percy was seven the first time he woke screaming, the taste of blood in his mouth and the howling of hounds resounding throughout his head. His mom rushed into his room to cradle him in her arms. When she asked, he bit his tongue, told her only of dogs chasing after him. He didn’t tell her of the boy with the goat legs, the pain of being torn apart, and the warm light that engulfed him at the end. She held him until he fell back asleep. Elsewhere, a young daughter of Zeus made her final stand.
Percy was nine when he opened his eyes, phantom lightning crawling over his skin and the echoes of a woman’s last moments still ringing in his ears. If he closed his eyes, he could still see the twin onyx eyes staring back at him.
When his mother told him the story of his namesake, of Perseus the son of Zeus, he didn't tell her he already knew. Had already seen a mother and her infant set adrift in a raging storm, watched a boy travel far and slay monsters for the sake of his mother’s safety. But he didn’t tell her this. He was young, but he knew already what happened to people like him. People who see.
He was no prophet; he would not suffer their fate. He would bite his tongue and let the prophecies pass him by.
