The gorgeous girl strutted past them without a single glance, like she was totally oblivious to how much the world seemed to want her. The girl who had spoken to her followed the other girls down the hallway with her gaze. An intense wave of dislike seemed to emanate from her.
“Satan,” the girl repeated, nodding down the hallway once the other girls turned the corner, “Catrina Driluth, but everyone just calls her Catra. Head cheerleader. All the girls want to be her, all the guys want to fuck her, and she’s completely fucking evil from head to toe.”'

Well. Let's see if Githyanki can be trusted on their word. Or, even better...coerced into a mutually beneficial arrangement. She's certain there's something she could offer the Gith. Twist to her advantage. If this could also make Lae'zel more bearable, all the better for her.

Summary
This AU for The Legend of Korra basically follows the plot of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, mostly from Korra's perspective, as she takes the place of Steve Rogers in this story (nothing surprising there). Feeling lost, alone, and out of place, she does missions for the White Lotus and tries to learn about a world that has moved on without the Avatar.
Without her being aware, one mission triggers a cascade of events, where secrets are exposed, enemies old and new are revealed, and a powerful fighter comes gunning for the Avatar. In an environment filled with spies and betrayal, Korra must figure out who she is fighting and who, if anyone, she can trust if she is going to survive.
Taking place mostly in Republic City, this story tries to keep the setting as consistent with the show as possible, except moved forward in time. Bending still exists, mixed in with modern communications and other technology, as well as firearms, and many of the familiar characters from Legend of Korra will show up.

With a shrug of acquiescence. “I suppose that’s fair,” she mused quietly, slowly walking towards her. “But I assure you…” Catra came close, dangerously close. “I’m quite serious,” she crooned.
Adora smiled. “Why was it the best day of your life?” She only closed her eyes when the other woman traced fingers down her cheek, enjoying the volts of electricity that seemed to pulse along her skin where Catra touched her.
“The day I met you?” She could feel her pulse in her ears as they twitched, her throat running dry. She gripped what remained of her courage and continued. “The day I met the love of my life? How could it not be the best day?” Catra held her breath for just a moment before continuing on. “Adora… you do know that I love you… right?”
