Summary
Now he's here, lying down, his back to the man sleeping peacefully beside him. Gazerbeam, he remembers. That man so serious and yet so sweet that it seems impossible. A walking contradiction who, at least, makes his everyday life feel better.
He turns, staring at the man- at Simon's back. He wants to slide his hands around his waist, curl up, and hold onto him like a life jacket. But he knows if he does, he'll instantly drown.
Damn Simon Paladin, and damn himself, for having sunk so low.
Or; Gazerbeam and Gamma Jack fall in love. Being in love in the 1950s/1960s makes everything more complicated than it should be.

Summary
It's only been days, but the sticky stickiness on his hand seems to refuse to let go. He tries with all his might to tear it from his skin, scraping his hand until, unbelievably, his hand burns with pain. He bites his lip as he tries to work his magic where the stickiness refuses to let him go.

Damian pulls Jon into a desperate kiss, his clumsy steps making their way to the bed.
"Kent—" he gasps, falling with a thud onto the bed. The blue-eyed man places his hand on Damian's shirt, with a flirtatious smile.
"Damian..." he says, leaning closer to his neck. "You know, I'm sick of these pointless attempts to kill me." The smile turns crooked. He's not lying on a bed, he's standing, his heart pounding and his breathing labored.

Summary
It is irrational. It's childish. But the image of his mother, tears in her eyes and a warm touch on his skin, makes him want to hold on to this moment.
So he simply nods. And blows out the small candle.
"You have to be strong, habibi" whispers his mother, sliding a hand down his back in a gesture he doesn't know how to receive.
Damian tries not to tense up. He fails.
"Shujaa" she says one last time, laying him back on his bed with unfamiliar tenderness. And when she disappears into the darkness, Damian feels something break inside him.
The next morning, and in the days that follow, his mother is nowhere to be found. No matter how much he waits, no matter how many mistakes he makes on purpose, she never comes back for him.
Or; Instead of Talia take Damien to Bruce, she disappears from the boy's life. Years later, the family he didn't know he had breaks into the league of assassins.
And Damien hates them.

Summary
He almost doesn't notice the hole in the ground, lost in his thoughts as he is. It's deep, and looks out of place in the forest. More importantly, there's a child in the hole. A very small child, from the looks of it. The child themself looks gaunt and deathly pale, the strange clothes practically hanging off their stick-thin frame.
Nathan crouches down, concern etching itself onto his features. He's barely in the right head-space to look after himself at the moment, let alone anything else, but he can't just leave the poor kid there.
