It's not a secret that Charles was a slave, but it's also not a thing he talks about. It's a thing he'd confessed to Jack one night, when there had been a shipment of slaves in the harbor destined for the inland plantations. Charles had stared and then gone and drunk himself into a stupor. Jack had come to fish him out of a fight in the tavern and haul him back to his tent, stumbling and belligerent. He'd wiped Charles's brow, given him water, and said if I'm to be your keeper I at least deserve to know why you've gotten yourself into this state. And Charles had told him, words slurring together, not the specifics but the general idea.

Summary
Crowley leans over the timber balustrade of a dingy building that was once an upscale theatre. He breathes the stuffy air that smells of smoke and sweat, and taps his heels on the sticky floor.
But he can't really complain - London sure has some horrid spots to offer, and the ringer house at Cleveland Street hardly is the worst of them.

Crowley is a rent-boy working in a gay brothel in one of the poorest districts of London. One night a rather mysterious and very handsome client appears, coincidentally just after another gay brothel is exposed after a raid.
Who is this angel-like looking man? What is his connection to the whole situation? And more importantly–will Crowley be able to keep his emotions at bay?
Time is ticking, since more and more gay brothels across the city are being raided by the newly appointed police chief...

They have an arrangement for these days when Crowley can't find words to ask for what he wants. This is how it begins.
Aziraphale says nothing. He only watches Crowley with that patient look on his face. Crowley knows he's waiting for him to approach. The angel never asks Crowley for this. It is never Aziraphale who seeks control. Rather, it is always Crowley who must relinquish it.
So Crowley stumbles forward on unsteady legs, collapsing into a tangle of limbs at Aziraphale's feet and pressing the leash into the angel’s hand, the sheen of the gold leather catching the light.

Technology is a wonderful thing, isn’t it? Not just concerning vibrators, or anything related to self-pleasure—mainly concerning phones. Smartphones, to be exact. They’re always improving with the latest technology, making them faster and smarter. So much smarter, in fact, that if you say a certain word or phrase, it will act accordingly.
Crowley’s mobile, which is laying on the bed next to him, is on silent, so he does not hear the announcement of “Calling Aziraphale” through his moans, or the ringing tone.

Then one night he wakes when it’s still dark, and at first he doesn’t know why, until he hears Aziraphale’s breathing a little raspier than usual, and feels the very slight trembling of the bed."

Summary
Sometimes concepts are too big, too complicated, and too ineffable to properly describe or understand. Sometimes it is easier to imagine things as metaphors. And metaphorically speaking, reality could be viewed as an obscure and complex version of poker played in a pitch-black room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a Dealer who won’t tell you the rules and who smiles all the time.
Of course, reality can also be viewed as two powerful angels going down to Earth with the goal of wiping the "traitor" out of existence the old-fashioned way. If more precise methods don't work, then simply smite away at the target until there's nothing left.
