And Finn would kill him. He would snap his neck or shoot him or bury him alive and cover him in dirt until he chokes on the taste of earth until he can't breathe and all he can think about is how he'll never see the sun again.
Or: Time Travel Au where Finn is killed by The Grabber at Alpine Lake and goes back in time to fix everything, but he's not exactly alone.

In his moments of lucidity in the hospital—God, it seems like so long ago—Gwen told him about what he’d missed. The search, the dreams, seeing the ghosts of the boys just minutes before arriving at the house,
“It was the wrong house,” she had whispered to him, “the bastard had two.”
“It’s okay,” he had breathed, even though it hurt his chest, “it’s okay.” He didn't know what else to say.
His eyes were closed, but he had the feeling that his sister was giving him one of her sad smiles. He’d seen it so many times before. She sniffed, and he knew she was holding back tears.
“It’s not.” she whispered, “I almost lost you.”
Finney had fallen asleep again before he could respond, but he heard the unsaid sentence.
I might still lose you.
Or,
Finney fell asleep in a hospital bed, hanging on by a thread due to a final wound caused by the Grabber. 2 days and 7 hours after making it out, Finney dies due to his injuries.
Finney wakes up in his own bed, confused to hell and back, and decides he’s doing to make it everyone’s problem.

After they finally defeat the Grabber's ghost, Finney's given a choice to either go back in time before it all and finally rest or stay in the present. As he struggles with making a choice, he finds out he isn't alone. That a person he knew had also been given the same choice, it wasn't a person he was expecting but he could work it out.

It happened quickly, the kind of quick that you think is impossible until you live it. You hear about abductions, about parents turning away for a split-second and their children disappearing into thin air, and you think they must be justifying their own neglect. Surely, they must have not been watching close enough if someone could steal their kid out from under their nose. Of the two of them, Finney is sure his dad would be glad to see him go. Robin has his mom and his uncle, and he stands tall and stubborn and proud in a way that Finney thinks means he's never gotten hit by someone who was supposed to protect him. He doesn't resent Robin for that. The idea of someone hurting Robin the way his dad hurts Gwen makes Finney see red.

He looks around and finds Johnny leaning against a pillar at the far end of the hallway with his hands clasped in front of him, some book tucked up under his arm just the way Jimmy’s done. His eyes flick down the length of Daniel and then bore into his face steadily. Daniel swivels, panicked, to hiss, “Did you tell him?”
