something about the difference in Zoey's demeanour since the start of the night - anxious for Mira's approval, to quite literally being a few seconds away from basically tongue-fucking her unnie in the middle of a fucking straight-bar…
it flipped something primal in Mira's brain, the heat in her veins manifesting in a visible dilation of her eyes - pupils wide and swallowing Zoey's whole.
Zoey met it with just the same level of interest, forearm pressing into the small of Mira's back and keeping her close.
it was hard to tell when they'd started panting, but neither of them cared to question it when their focus was on one thing and one thing only:

Summary
So maybe Zoey wasn't always the most perceptive person when it came to other people. She was smart though, and the clues had started to add up. They'd been adding up for years, and Zoey had been keeping notes. Sixty-two ideas had slowly been narrowed down into five final ideas.
The last option seemed absurd, but everything pointed in that direction. Rumi was a demon.
It's the night following the awkward signing with the Saja Boys, and Zoey know it's time for she and Rumi to have a talk. She'd come to the right conclusion, but that didn't make this any less difficult. Dealing with Rumi's secret was a lot, but they'd tackle it together.

“Celine gave me that recipe,” Rumi mutters quietly, looking down into her mug and cradling it close. “When I was a lot younger.”
Mira and Zoey both turn around.
“It’s my favorite.” Rumi smiles wryly. “Or was. I haven’t had it in a while.”
“I bet it’s going to taste so good,” Zoey giggles, disentangling herself from Mira to step closer towards Rumi. Zoey takes her mug and sets it on the countertop, Rumi’s arms inevitably find their way around Zoey’s waist. She leans up to kiss Rumi—soft, firm. Grounding.
Just what she needed, because Mira presses ever onwards. “Have you two spoken lately?”
“Not at all,” Rumi admits. “We haven’t—I haven’t—”
She hasn’t figured it out yet. It’s all so nebulous and confusing, the gargantuan complexity of how Celine makes her feel. Or, how Celine feels about her. The bridge between them feels frail and tenuous—if it’s even still there at all—and crossing it feels scary. Terrifying.
And yet,
“I missed her today.”

Summary
Rumi had learned a long time ago that her body was… more resilient than the average human. She wasn't invincible. Her body still bent and broke and popped and bled in an irritatingly human way sometimes. However she tended to heal at a supernatural rate. A broken arm healed in a matter of minutes. A gash closed over in a handful of seconds. The honmoon helped to speed up the healing of its hunters, but not to this level. Not to this extreme.
Still, the first time Rumi gets hit by a bus she is immensely grateful that 1) it is her and not one of her girls that was hit, 2) her demon healing has already started to repair her snapped spine as she careens through the air and 3) that Zoey and Mira are still in the alley way and won't have to watch this happen.
