Like vampires need blood to live, familiars need magic.
Technically speaking, a familiar could live without a witch (known as witchless or stray familiars), they would just need to find another magic creature willing to give them magic or buy magic bags. But Wooyoung is not willing to let anyone know he’s a familiar and with this economy, only rich people can afford magic bags. So he had to get creative when his personal quest to be a “witchless familiar that everyone thinks is human but not starve to death” started.

A missing 15 year old, never found, presumed dead. The idea of it chilled anyone to the bone, but especially an ex-Robin.
Ever since his core fractured, Danny just wanted to control his new compulsions and avoid melting into ecto like his clone (sister), but the GIW and two random vigilantes wouldnt leave him alone!

Tim is injured while fighting Two-Face and, because of circumstances that may or may not involve the kid's lack of spleen and a low stock of Bat-Antibiotics, his siblings are forced to take him to Mount Justice instead of the Batcave for medical care. Which is fine. Really. The only problem is that the Team is unaware that Jason is alive. Also, they're unaware of Damian and Cass's existences, and of the fact that the Robins are all siblings, and of the fact that the Bats aren't actually harboring a dangerous villain in the Red Hood, but rather a dangerous-but-friendly anti-hero in the Red Hood. Big difference.
Fine, so maybe they have some explaining to do. But dammit if they're not gonna do it the Bat way.
