“I’m not in denial,” Aaron says plainly. It’s not his own feelings he was ever worried about, he realizes—it’s always been the threat of Kevin’s that scares the shit out of him. Kevin, who has never known how to follow posted speed limits and runs reds because he can, because no one has ever told him he shouldn’t, probably likes him. Probably definitely. He’s afraid that one day he’ll realize he doesn’t.
Maybe that’s the heart of the issue. There’s precedence for this. Aaron has spent a long time being jerked around by people who love him for a period. It hurts, still, that his mother doesn’t know how to want him; that Andrew’s apathy is hard to interpret as caring sometimes; that Katelyn decided it wasn’t working after all. But that’s not very accurate data. Not that it matters. Kevin and him were never supposed to be together—that was their agreement.

That. That was what he blurted out.
And it was true, he and Damian had been fighting and Damian had pushed him into it, but they had cleaned it up and replaced it with a different vase and neither brought it up again. Aside from seeing Alfred tilt his head at it before dusting it, Tim didn't think anyone had noticed.
Also that was like four months ago, but apparently that was the best his brain could come up with. Why was he the smart one? He was a moron.

Whoever's idea it was to have an actual party was messed up. Andrew was used to attention but never like this. Not where the other foxes cheered for him and Aaron like they didn't just call them an asshole and monster last week.
They made absolutely no sense to him.
But this made Aaron happy so Andrew didn't complain. He was quiet but he always was now. And Nicky was beyond thrilled that his cousins were allowing this.
"My babies are all grown up!" He cheered and Andrew saw him wipe a tear away. He felt warm, it was a strange feeling.
