Summary
As he was dusting off the dirt from his trousers he heard a sound coming from his left. Judging from the cloud of sand, there was a car coming down the road in the direction where he stood. Relieved at the prospect of finally getting out of this place, he stepped closer to the roadside and stuck his thumb out. Noeul couldn’t help but notice that the sound the car made was highly peculiar. His bewilderment multiplied tenfold when he could finally make out the shape, a group of riders on horseback, galloping towards him.
It wouldn’t have been odd otherwise, but the attire of the riders was extremely striking. A group of six men, dressed in lightweight metal armour adorned with golden embellishments, each with a red silk scarf tied around their waist. Each carried a long sword strapped to their back with a cross-body leather belt. All of them with a stern look on their faces.
They galloped on their horses at full speed, closing in faster than Noeul had time to think. Did he stumble upon a movie set? Or was this really heaven, and he was now stuck with a group of ancient warriors about to run him over and send him to the next address down below?
Aw, shit, he thought, bracing for impact.
