He had Drifted twice with a Kaiju brain. No one can be expected to come away without some form of damage. Newton might have expected the flashes of Kaiju hive memories, maybe even growing a little closer to his colleague Hermann Gottlieb than they already have.
He didn’t expect everything else. The intense emotional reactions. The way he almost unconsciously leans toward Hermann. The way he seeks out his… touch. Closeness and touch. It is so, so messed up.
And it isn’t really getting any better because the more he fights it, the worse he becomes…

When Ren told Hux it was time to strike against Snoke, their bodies had lain entwined with one another, tangled, skin on hot skin. Treachery slipped softly from the man's plush lips, treasonous words that Hux had first planted there, now fed back to him in a perfect cycle. So they'd gone, and they'd won. But now a third of the intended triumvirate lies shattered, struck down from the inside out, strapped to a bed in the medcenter. The crown bears heavy on Hux's skull, without him.
And then, Ren wakes up.
Or, Hux succeeds in wresting empire from Snoke, but at a price. It may ultimately prove too high.

Bard is unsure what to make of King Thranduil. The Elvenking might be regal and graceful beyond compare, but he is also cold and ruthless. Bard cannot comprehend why anyone would be so set on declaring war over a handful of gems, heedless of the lives they might lose.
But as the war for the Dwarven treasure draws nearer, Bard finds himself spending more time in the Elvenking's presence, and it would be a lie to say that he is not affected by King Thranduil's beauty — or the tension building between them.
