Summary
Aventurine is never quiet—until the morning he doesn’t show up to work, doesn’t answer his messages, and leaves his apartment door half-open.
Ratio tells himself it isn’t a crisis.
It’s just irritation.
Statistically. But irritation doesn’t explain why he finds Aventurine feverish on the kitchen floor, too weak to stand, insisting he doesn’t want to “trouble” anyone.
It definitely doesn’t explain why Ratio ends up in Aventurine’s bed, holding him through the worst night of his life.
A fever, three Catcakes, one very stubborn gambler, and one man who refuses to admit he cares—
until caring becomes impossible to hide.Bookmarked by Wayward77

It wasn’t as if nobody had ever asked Aventurine out before, and he knew he was charming and handsome. But this was Ratio, and the Doctor had proven time and time again that he was an unusual and, at times, unpredictable person. Ratio was someone who had once explicitly said he was interested in who Aventurine actually was, not who he presented himself to be. And that kind of honesty and vulnerability was frankly terrifying – something Aventurine had no idea how to reciprocate properly.

"Let me elaborate. You won't be doing the inspections: you're there for the trade and the financial aspects. I'm sending a representative of the Intelligentsia Guild to do the inspections."Aventurine's next snarky reply died in the back of his throat. Suddenly, his nails didn't seem all that interesting. "Oh," he did his best to sound natural and unbothered. "And who might that representative be?"
While Topaz would never pass up an opportunity to tease and one-up Aventurine, surely this was off limits. There was no way she would have picked Ratio, right?
Topaz giggled a little bit. Oh, she was enjoying this. "Oh, no one,” she said in a sing-song voice. “Just your favourite little situationship who you've been ghosting."
It appeared this was not, in fact, off limits.

Summary
Aventurine looked up through his tear-blurred vision, seeing the steadiness in Ratio’s dark eyes–the patient, unwavering presence that had somehow endured the storm of his confession. “Don’t you get it?” he whispered finally, a fragile, trembling thing, barely audible even to himself. Not a declaration, not a plea–but a truth he could no longer hide beneath the rubble of guilt and fear. “I know the end…everything I’ve ever loved… it always ends. And I… I can’t–I can’t… I can’t lose you too.”
“You won’t.” Ratio’s thumb brushed lightly across his back in slow, deliberate circles. “Not now. Not tonight. That… that’s the part you can count on gambler”
