There’s a smirk tugging at his lips now. Jake can see a hint of it in the twitch of his mustache, a twinkle in his eyes, but Bradley just shrugs. “Okay.”

With a scowl, Jake just shrugs his shoulders. "Gotta pay attention to the competition, right? Not that you turned out to be much competition after all, a bit too slow for me."
"Ah, well, that might be true for my flying, but it certainly doesn't carry over into other aspects of my life, darlin' ," Rooster says, smirk almost painted onto his face, looking him up and down.

Summary
As they broke into the ship, sliding quietly along a shockingly understaffed storage deck, no one thought to grab Lance. To touch base, maybe mention that the priority was the prisoners of higher standing with bigger pockets, which required a level of secrecy and nonchalance. And this requirement would need him to contain his emotions throughout the mission, even if his teammates were to fall or get injured. Even if he found Keith and wasn’t pleased with his treatment. He would need to remain calm. The monarchs were the priority.
This lack of forethought led to what is considered one of the worst intergalactic shipwrecks of all time. After all, Keith Kogane was always Lance’s first priority.

After Keith is abducted, Lance fights to get on a Blades mission to break into a Galran ship imprisoning hundreds. He keeps his own mission to himself. Step 1: follow orders until he can’t. Step 2: find Keith in the prison and break him out. Step 3: kill anything that slows him down.

Summary
Jake was born and raised in Texas and he knows a thing or two about guns. When Hard Deck is raided by a band of thugs and all inside taken hostage, Jake gets his hands on a rifle that Penny keeps under the counter and shows them exactly why they shouldn’t mess up with his Team. And Rooster may or may not get hard by seeing how precise Jake’s aim is.

Summary
As casually as he could, he shifted his hand where it was still held tightly in Rooster’s grip, inching his fingers forwards until they brushed against the exposed part of his wrist. Jake gently pressed the tips of his fingers down, searching with light movements until he found what he was looking for.
And there it was.
The soft beat of Rooster’s pulse thumped against the pads of his fingers, as slow and steady as the man approached every aspect of life. Jake felt the panic recede at once, the irrefutable proof that he had done it, he had saved Rooster, seeming to be enough for his brain to calm down.

Or, the five times Hangman checks Rooster’s pulse to remind himself he made it back from the mission, and the one time Rooster catches on.
