In Germa alphas were expected to be strong, aggressive, violent, but controlled. Judge expected great things of his children, and he had gone to great lengths to ensure his expectations would be met. He hired exclusively alphas to train them, to make them strong, vicious, effective soldiers.
Male omegas were rare. When a male presented as an omega it was seen as both an event to celebrate an a time of worry. There were those in the world who would fetishise male omegas, human trafficking, sex slavery, and even forced breeding was not unheard of even in the more isolated area.
In a world of stereotypes and assumptions sometimes it's easiest to hide your true self. But for how long?
(I can't write smut 😅 do not expect smut here despite it being an omegaverse fic. I just wanted an excuse to play with social dynamics and traumatise some characters)

His focused still on Obito, wanting him to get the point about his teammate. “And make sure he’s doing alright up there. He seems to be doing worse than when Sakumo passed.”
“Hai sensei.” the Obito echoed.
Obito watched his sensei leave, relief and worry swirling in his wake.
“Kakashi! Can you come here for a sec?”
He gets no response.

“Obito asked me where some of his stuff is,” Rin comments one day, kicking her feet and not even looking at Kakashi as if she's just talking about the weather.
“Uhuh,” Kakashi eloquently says, suddenly feeling very hot and grateful for the mask covering his face. “Figures the idiot loses his stuff.” There, a perfectly reasonable answer.
Rin hums, it sounds amused, it sounds as if she knows exactly where Obito’s things are and she’s only humoring him.

“Uh…” Obito hesitated.
“It’s a simple yes or no.” Fugaku snapped.
Obito’s eye narrowed in annoyance. “YOU’RE TELLING ME! HE’S THE ONE WHO WON’T MAKE HIS FEELINGS CLEAR!” He pointed at Kakashi accusatorily.
Kakashi looked at him, taken aback, eye narrowing to match his irritation. “I SHOULDN’T HAVE TO, WE SHOULDN’T NEED SOME LABEL TO DEFINE ANYTHING!”
Obito nearly headbutted him. “WE DON’T NEED A LABEL BUT SOME PEOPLE LIKE A LABEL! GIVE ME A LABEL, BAKASHI! ANY LABEL!”
“OKAY HERE’S A LABEL, YOU’RE AN IDIOT!” Kakashi retorted.

Kakashi’s mask was already back up by the time any of them looked at him, and he was growling at Asuma without shame, leaning over the table to protect the remaining dango stick. “I said, it’s Obito’s!”
“B-Bakashi…” Obito stammered, looking between him and Asuma in disbelief. “You didn’t have to bite him over it…”

Obito smiled shyly, cradling the precious item in his hands. “You really think so?”
A bright red scarf rested in his hands, with the Uchiha crest at one end.
Rin squealed, clapping her hands excitedly. “Are you kidding? It’s incredible, Obito.” She praised. “With the crest and everything…I can’t wait to see Kakashi wear it!”
Obito gulped at the mention of his teammate.
The Uchiha crest wasn’t just handed out to anyone. And everyone amongst the Uchiha would know instantly that giving the crest to somebody outside of the clan was a courtship gesture.
So yeah, it was a pretty big deal, and no matter how hard Obito tried, he was really, really nervous.
OR: Obito tries to give Kakashi a scarf, but it completely backfires when Kakashi thinks the scarf is for Rin.

“What?” Kakashi asks, innocent. “I’m just training.” He’s sure Obito would be protesting that claim if Obito could move enough to. Fortunately, Obito can’t. “Obito’s helping me.”
Minato-sensei looks terribly doubtful of that, shifting his gaze between Kakashi and Obito. To make up for the fact Obito is currently a puddle on the ground, completely unable to move, Kakashi shifts to make himself look as innocent as possible. “Right,” Minato-sensei stretches out the word, “Make sure that”—he casts another disturbed glance at Obito—“whatever you did to him reverses without any side effects.”
“Of course, Minato-sensei. I wouldn’t leave one of my teammates compromised.”

Summary
Idk vague idea [crackfic] abt Kakashi being like a cat and others fighting for his attention. Y'know that feeling when a cat chooses to approach you? Yea that's the vibe I'm going with for this. Basically everyone sees Kakashi and thinks cat -vibes cause I think it's funny. Inspired (partly) by that head canon/theory that Obito and Gai had some typa beef with each as kids and didn't like each other.
(Literally what I wrote in my infodump doc when I got this idea)
Anyways, this is a nonlinear-type fic. Don't expect things to be in chronological order, and don't expect this to strictly adhere to canon. I'll try my best to label which chapters are directly correlated and whatnot and you can for the most part assume these are all happening in the same universe unless I say otherwise. Oh, and while this is Kakashi-centric, the povs will mostly be from other people, focusing on their interactions with Kakashi.
I'll be updating tags as I go along, let me know if there's any I should add.
