As evil as Deacon knows the Institute can be, it's unlikely they planted a cryogenically frozen version of his dead wife in a pre-war Vault. So he's accidentally stumbled across the woman they modeled Barbara to look like. Plus her dead, also frozen, husband. All he wants to do is file it away with his other lifelong trauma and forget that she exists, but when Nora bursts into the Commonwealth a few years later that isn't an option anymore.
A shameless short-fic idea that wouldn't go away. Based on the Hozier song 'Almost' and the desire to create an even more emotionally tortured Deacon by having Barbara originally as a rejected mother-figure synth for a younger Shaun, modeled to look like the Sole Survivor.

Waking up in the Dragon Age World should mean this is all just a dream. Only there’s a voice in my head calling itself Love. Things keep going off script. And the one romantic choice I never pick, Solas, seems to know who I really am, and keeps calling me Vehnan.
The line ‘In another world’ has always fascinated me. What if Solas found out the woman he loves is from another world? What if he found out she wasn’t really the elven woman he thought she was? And what if he found this all out too late and still went ahead with his original plan? What would he do when his plan ultimately failed?
(The author fully admits, in her arrogant opinion that his plan is doomed to failure, as the elves have yet to learn from their mistakes, and would simply reenact them.)

Another of this Author's amazing works it absolutely captivated me, I loved every chapter and it was so intense at times. I honestly was holding back tears in front of the fam while reading the last few chapters, I began to sympathize with the main protag in ways I haven't in awhile. Great job on this!

Summary
When the Dragonborn nearly died, lying limp atop the Throat of the World, Oblivion was plunged into chaos. Everyone wanted a piece of the hero of legend, to spit in the face of the Divines by claiming her as their Champion.
Now that the Dragonborn is no longer on her deathbed, the Prince of the Hunt has decided that he can't wait to find out if he'll get to chase a dragon's soul in his Hunting Grounds. Hircine comes to Skyrim and he's after blood, and Mera has to race across the continent to cure herself of lycanthropy before he catches up.
Unfortunately, there might be a fate worse than being caught by Hircine and his Hounds and all of Oblivion rests in the balance.
(Part of a series, but you don't need to read the other parts to enjoy it. I recommend reading After His Fall before this for a complete understanding)
