“Mr. Barnes! Wake up!”
Bucky woke up in a rush, flesh hand already reaching for the gun he kept under his pillow. Instincts and training were taking over from the sudden awakening. It was only thanks to his brain catching up to his body that Bucky noticed that the one who had woken him up was Peter.
The teenager was hanging upside down from a web strand attached the ceiling. He was wearing a pair of Hello Kitty pajama pants and a NYC tourist shirt that looked too big on him, pooling around his chest due to his current position. Peter’s hair was wild like he had just woken up but his bright eyes said a different story.
“Oh, good, you’re awake,” Peter said cheekily.

Homecoming AU.
Ben and May divorced before Peter’s parents died, so when Ben is murdered Peter goes into foster care. It takes just a tiny taste of superpowers for Peter to decide he doesn’t want to put up with his horrible foster father anymore—the streets are infinitely more appealing. All he wants is to be Spider-Man anyway.
So he leaves.
Simple.
Simple, that is, until Iron Man needs Spider-Man’s help. Peter isn’t about to turn down an opportunity to fight alongside Tony Freaking Stark, but he also isn’t going to let his hero know that his recruit is a fifteen-year-old homeless dropout. So they strike a deal. Peter will help Tony. In return, the mask stays on.
And that’s when things get complicated.

There were old and new bite marks around his face, his ribs were prominent, his right front leg was gone, and his ears were cropped so poorly, it had to be a home job.
He knew a little something of what it was like being on the receiving end of that kind of brutality....
This is a story about a man and his dog. It's different than a lot of what I've written before. You won't find much in the way of plot here, but you will find an angsty and (I hope!) sometimes funny character study.
