After Max found out her mom died after the four-way gate split open, Steve offered his empty room for her to stay in. They grow closer throughout the next month and a half, and Steve couldn't be happier that he offered his place for the girl to stay.
But now that she lives with Steve, he can't help but catch her spacing out every so often.
At first, she 'woke up' when he snapped his fingers near her, looking just a little dazed. But now, she doesn't snap out of it until he physically gets her attention, startling her by lightly tapping on her.
Should he be worried? Or is this just a strange new coping mechanism she's unknowingly developing- turning her brain off as she stares out at nothing? -

Sanji, with great sighs and groans, was not happy that he had to babysit.
Ever annoyed, he still successfully put on a happy face as the young boy wandered around his room, sticking his nose in every nook and cranny while carrying a bright blue book with him.
Eventually growing bored of that, the boy handed Sanji the children's book for him to read aloud.Sanji didn't even have a chance to announce the title before he saw a singular character on the front cover, wearing something... familiar.

Clearly, the offline yellow frame trapped by blackened earth had been trying to get clear even before the final explosion, likely ferrying his charge to safety. Small organic fingers tugged and shoved at the comparatively massive rocks, delicate skin tearing and leaving behind streaks of red fluid. But despite his panic, despite the pain, the human refused to abandon his guardian.
“Bumblebee,” he choked out, voice thick with emotion.
It reminded Soundwave all too much of another scene, long before, on another planet entirely.
