The sound of rustling was what greeted Grace as he walked through their front door for the first time since the school year started. With an ache in his back and a twinge in his shoulders he dropped his bag and coat onto the table that was still piled high with boxes to be sorted out. The warmth of the painted walls seeped into his bones as he sighed out all the woes of the first day back. A quick stretch and he started to wander through their home, through a cobalt blue living room and a warm yellow kitchen. Through a muted green office past the still white closet. The sound of his husband’s rustling echoed louder and louder as he moved towards their bedroom.

“Simon?” Grace tries out the name, the syllables rolling of his tongue. To his surprise, Simon looks up. He looks scared and confused, regardless of how harsh his bark may come off or unnatural his eyes are. Grace longs to help him.
“Can you c’mere, please? So I can show you proof I’m not lying to you?” Grace asks with a new wave of patience. Simon looks away and doesn’t move, choosing to glare at the wall.
“I don’t bite,” Grace reassures.
“What if I do?” Simon warns, tone too soft to be threatening.
Grace sits down with a grunt, crisscrossed on the floor from where he stood with the laptop settled on his lap.
“Then that’s a risk I’ll just have to take.”

Ryland Grace has been living happily on Erid the past year, or so he believes. He loves his comforts and small wins of his everyday, but when he’s alone it feels as though something’s missing.
Maybe this hard around the edges and mysterious stranger, the only human he’s made contact with in years, will become a friend.
Maybe something more, as his foolish soft heart always holds onto hope.

"What?" March hasn't been to Arizona. Not in over a decade, and he's pretty confident that unless this woman is talking about a brief stint where he got into a bar confrontation in Phoenix in the 60s, or Holly's been up to some crazy shit without him knowing, she's got the wrong Holland March.
"Sir, am I correct in assuming that you were named by your sister as the emergency guardian for her children in late October of 1963 or not?" She exhales. "There's been an incident regarding the children's father, Mr. March."

Grace is pushing forty, still working the same old job as a biology teacher at a private San Francisco high school. His life is pretty unassuming. Mundane at best.
At least until he meets his new coworker Simon, the twenty-something PE teacher who is hellbent on seducing him.
Not that Grace would need much persuading. Only, he's a bit too oblivious.Grace shouldn’t have come here again.
It’s a horrible idea. The worst one, really.
But if it is so wrong, why does the thought of it have to feel so good?
Simon leans against the cold, white tile of the teacher showers.
“You can’t seriously stand there and tell me you’ve never even thought about it,” Simon mutters, resting his head on the wall, damp hair falling onto his face.
Grace gulps, hard. He should leave. Turn back and pretend none of this ever happened. That would be for the best.
But he doesn’t.
“I have,” he nods. His lust clouds his judgement, and he speaks without contemplating it first. “I’m thinking of it right now, actually.”
