In normal circumstances, L would assume his current belief that he is living out some sort of time loop of his own death is merely a bout of insanity that he should sleep or eat or work off. Again, if these were normal circumstances, not preceded by the proof of Shinigami and a notebook that kills people.
(L lives the day of his death over and over again and attempts to escape the loop.)

Summary
Alone in the bathroom, with a leash connecting him to L on the other side of the door, Light stares at his reflection in the mirror. Solitary confinement has done a number on him, dark circles rivalling L’s surrounded by gaunt, sickly skin. His eyes are tired and dim, and his shaking hands look weak under the artificial light.
How could L suspect someone so weak of being Kira? he wonders, anger flaring in his chest. Can’t he see that Kira has destroyed him, too?(my take on yotsuba arc, light's pov)

Summary
There’s something missing from Light Yagami’s skull. There’s something missing and he can’t put his finger on what it is. Memories seem vague, motives are aimless, people he’s met had occurred under blurry circumstances, and something is simply missing entirely. In its place is something which obstructs his sleep and mocks the missingness of his brain. He’ll find what had left. He just has to look hard enough.
TL;DR: The handcuffs/Yotsuba arc but Light has nightmares. Also I harp on the concept of memories a lot. Plus there’s some experimental symbolism and repetition. This is incredibly plot compliant and strictly follows the manga timeline.
