Was it really Fate? Or rather Hope? Fate was a bitch, but she could be cheated, but Hope? Hope dies last, as they said, and the mere chance that Loki might yet again find a way to return was what truly kept Thor going at all. He didn’t have anything else to lose, but there was something … someone he might get back one of these days. So he would wait. Even if it took centuries, millenia, he would wait.
And, of course, Loki will find a way. After a journey through their difficult past, a dive deep into their hearts and souls and more hardship to overcome in the present, born of misunderstanding and anxiety, they will finally find each other for a happily-bickering-ever-after. :-)
