Summary
Shane and Ilya were invited to go skiing with their friends and teammates Harris, Troy and Luca. Unfortunately, Ilya was sick and had to stay behind, while Shane went without him. After a few hours, the group can no longer be reached, and Ilya soon began receiving warnings about heavy snowfall and avalanche risks. When Shane didn’t return home that evening, Ilya was consumed by fear, desperate to know if his husband and his friends were safe.
(Or: Shane goes missing in the mountains along with Troy, Harris and Luca, and Ilya is left panicking at home, desperate to find them before it’s too late.)

Summary
Shane doesn’t realize he’s braced for silent eyes until he feels the absence of it — the weight of teammates immediately finding him and going quiet, waiting for him to fuck up, to say the wrong thing, to exist wrong. He expects the chatter of a room to drop when he enters and its disconcerting to find it doesn't yet in Ottawa.
