Summary

Summary
When the Avengers finally locate their missing friend, they find nothing more than a husk. Banner is gone, and he left behind a lifetime of guilt and questions for his only friends. As the team tries to hold it together through funerals, press conferences, and life in general, they come to find that the Avengers are falling apart at the seams. On a downward spiral, it seems the team is doomed. But things aren't always as they appear, especially when it comes to Dr. Bruce Banner and relying on the honesty of SHIELD.

This is the direct aftermath of returning home after two decades of trauma and pain. Lots of hurt/comfort, Penelope being the best and most wonderful human/wife, and Odysseus just generally having a bad time.

Summary

Castiel Novak has never had it easy, and never expected to catch a break, but when he finds himself unable to work after an encounter with a client that almost killed him, he has no choice but to beg the owner of the motel he lives at for an extension on rent, and he's willing to offer whatever he needs to to keep a roof over his head.
Imagine his surprise when his landlord simply asks him to help around the motel — painting walls or washing linens. Imagine his greater surprise when he finds himself falling a little harder for the man with every passing day.
Still, he knows he's racking up a bill that will eventually come due, and when it does, it just might break his heart.
