Summary
The problem with being a centenarian super soldier during the apocalypse is that it’s hard to find someone with shared life experiences, especially when half the dating pool has been turned into zombies. Although Bucky’s still not over Steve’s loss, he doesn’t have the energy to fight overly zealous and well-meaning Peter Parker. That’s why he agrees to an online dating profile, starts chatting with a user that goes by out_of_time, and figures out how to balance a social life with his very serious work of fighting zombies and saving the world. He also gets a surprise or two along the way.

His ears are still ringing from the rumble of the battle, which might explain why he’s hearing things.

A few minutes later, Steve finds a teenage boy passed out in black armor two sizes too big for him.
The world’s most notorious wetwork operative is now a sixteen-year-old from the 30s. James was living with Steve, so the boy—who goes by Bucky and looks at Steve with mingled awe and wariness—is determined to be Steve’s responsibility. Natasha looks sympathetic but not enough to save him from his fate. Tony and Strange are bickering over how much of it is magic and how much is science.
Sam tries to console him.
“It’s temporary,” he murmurs, fingers locked tight around Steve’s wrist. “It’ll be fine, Steve.”

There was a time where Steve thought he’d been a beta. He just didn’t present. Too sickly to be an alpha by society’s standards and too ill to carry children or deal with heats, his body just didn’t do anything. He didn’t have much of a sex drive, in fact it was near non-existent and to be honest, he was happier that way. If he had been an omega he would’ve been expected to get married off to an alpha and have lots of children, especially because he grew up in the 40’s and rights for omegas were slim. If he’d been an alpha people would have mocked him even more than they already did. So, he was content on being unclassified or as he and everyone else assumed, a beta.
Well, until the serum.
It started with cramps in his lower abdomen and crawled up his back. His chest felt suspiciously full and heavy, it hurt and he was terribly sensitive. There was a strange scent that seemed to follow him around, a sweet smell. One that was usually associated with omegas. It was hard to be around his men, the people in his squad. I wanna see Steve being messed with by his secretly-HYDRA coworker buddies. I want them generally fucking with him, "accidentally" doing terrible things to him or getting Steve into awful situations, telling jokes that aren't really jokes, gaslighting, performing sexual-assault hazing under the guise that "that's what people do now," pressuring him into other sex shit, anything, just fuck Steve up.
Steve isn't failing to fully catch on because he's dumb or oblivious: it's just that he is Steve, so he wants to believe the best of everybody, and he doesn't want to believe that he could be working for/with bullies and that (as Natasha says) he essentially died for nothing.
