Summary
Verso fully intended for Gustave to die at Renoir’s hand. He'd been hoping and planning for this while stalking them across the Continent, crafting ideas on how to insert himself into the empty space left behind, using the man's death as kindling to instill a burning drive in Alicia to force their mother out of the Canvas at long last. This had been his single-minded goal from the beginning of Expedition 33's doomed journey. Everything hinged upon on this one moment, this small sacrifice in a long line of expedition martyrs.
But somehow, despite all of his meticulous planning, he didn't take into account the possibility that the man could be his Alpha.

Summary
He'd like to think he's slick enough, the way he can keep the dull ache of his chest tucked away in the hidden back pocket of his heart and expertly school his features whenever one of Luffy's wayward smiles knocks all defiance and strength out of his knees. No need to call on his powers to slice and muddle and skew reality as everyone knows it; he can bitch and spit and grouse about how much disgrace Luffy's simple kindness brings to all pirates, make a show of stamping out any notion of friendship between them beneath his feet, and no one will have to hear any semblance of the truth exit his mouth – now or ever.
In all honesty, it's easier that way.
(Or: my personal twist on the Hanahaki trope, in which Luffy's warmth shines all-too-terrifyingly like the sun and Law has to physically rip out anything that vaguely even resembles love from his own body again, and again, and again on desperate repeat.Luckily for him, he has the surgical precision and exactly the right devil fruit powers for that).

Summary
As he inspects the meaty tail of the merman, he wonders if it's frowned upon to eat it. After all, it doesn't look unlike a fishtail or the tail of a lesser sea monster... but the upper body of the merman looks undeniably human, and Luffy clicks his tongue in disappointment. He doesn't think he could eat him with a good conscience, even if he does look very tasty.
Luffy is a monsterfucker.

He’d never seen any expression on her face other than her teeth gritted in determination or her grinning in victory. “I want to be the greatest swordsman too. But girls grow up, and their bodies become weaker than men's. I’m never going to be the greatest.”
Kuina tells him this, and Zoro can barely comprehend the words she’s saying. He thinks of the countless hours he’s spent training by the river bed, the green locks of his hair left on the floor after Koushirou helped him shear it all off, of the people he thought of as family a lifetime ago calling him by a name he despised. Zoro puts a hand to his chest, where he’d hastily wrapped bandages earlier that day, remembering how his body had begun changing and he didn’t understand why-
“You’re lucky to have been born a man, Zoro,” Kuina finishes lamely.
