Summary

"Shut up," she said. And I did. Because that's what we did. She talked with that filthy mouth of hers and we both liked it and then it was done until the next time. We didn't discuss it because it was just words, nothing real.
Except now it was the next morning and she was sitting in the middle of our bed talking about it.

Anomie is a "condition in which society provides little moral guidance to individuals". It is the breakdown of social bonds between an individual and the community e.g. if under unruly scenarios resulting in fragmentation of social identity and rejection of self-regulatory values.[2] It was popularized by French sociologist Émile Durkheim. Durkheim never uses the term normlessness; rather, he describes anomie as "derangement", and "an insatiable will".
For Durkheim, anomie arises more generally from a mismatch between personal or group standards and wider social standards, or from the lack of a social ethic, which produces moral deregulation and an absence of legitimate aspirations.

After John is seriously injured, Sherlock struggles to figure out how to help him, keep himself sane, and maybe, just maybe, get their life back to the way it's supposed to be.
A minute later and John was asleep again. Sherlock wanted to wake him up and grab him by the shoulders and shake him and demand that he try to wiggle his toes, kick his legs, stand up and walk. He wanted to weave his hands into John's hair and kiss him until they both couldn't breathe. He wanted to crawl into bed next to him and cry himself to sleep. Instead he just settled back into the moulded plastic chair, leaving his fingers wrapped in John's, waiting, waiting.

Summary
The deal breaker that's made them both wish that they had silence in their heads, that they had never woken up feeling each other - the deal breaker is how the bond ruthlessly ferries their emotions between them.
Where Bruce feels attraction to people he's never met and where Tony feels a slow-burning anger at a life that's not his, a deep sense of bitterness that speaks to his own but isn't his. They can't turn it off, distance doesn't help, and in a single sentence, they can explain why they would do almost anything to sever the bond.
Tony has triggered the Hulk before.
