The dragon arrived early in the morning, and by noon the entire village was in a panic in the town hall. No one in the village knew anything about dragons, aside from what they’d heard in fairy tales and stories, and the plans for dealing with it were about that level of sophisticated.
“We’re not sacrificing a virgin to the dragon,” Viktor said in exasperation.
“Well what would you do?!” the mayor demanded.
“I’m going to go talk to it,” Viktor said reasonably, and got up from his seat and went to do just that.

Louis greeted Lestat with not just a kiss, now, but also a hug, lingering – and then he held Lestat’s hand, and continued to hold it, which all but sent Lestat into throes of ecstasy, and usually garnered him a fond sideways look, which was even better.
Their hands were still clasped, even into their second hour of strolling an aimless circuit through the shadowed grove around the band’s rented house. They talked idly, but Lestat couldn’t help but notice the way Louis’ finger was constantly drawn to Lestat’s ring. He’d begun to stroke gently over it, a gentle repetitive motion, which made it increasingly difficult for Lestat to concentrate on anything else. So it came as something of a surprise when Louis said:
“I’ve been thinking about this for a while,” and got on one knee.

Summary
Will knew what had happened. He knew exactly how Abigail's ear had gotten into him, who had shoved it down his throat. He also knew that trying to indicate Hannibal as a killer again was futile. Jack seemed to want to believe him, going by the conversation in the BSHCI's visitor hall, but Jack needed something concrete, evidence. Hannibal had eluded capture for so long, he wasn't going to start leaving fingerprints or hairs at his crime scenes now.
No, Will was going to deal with Hannibal Lecter on his own terms. The man deserved to reap what he'd so carefully sowed, didn't he? He deserved to experience what he'd coaxed forth from the bottom of Will's soul, to see the result of his machinations.
