Phum snorted. “Didn’t you say the last one was so bad you faked a call from mom to escape?”
“I did not fake it. Mom does call sometimes.”
Seconds later, Mick and Beer barged in like they owned the place.
“Oh, you started eating without us?” Mick groaned. “Rude.”
“I live here,” Fang deadpanned.
“Still rude.” Mick flopped onto the floor beside the couch table. “Okay, but hear us out. This one’s different. Also, can I get a glass? Does anyone want a drink?”
“You say that every time,” Fang said. “And every time it’s a disaster. The guy who brought his ex? Disaster. The one who talked about crypto the entire meal? Also disaster. The one who kept calling me ‘babe’ before we even sat down?”
“Okay, that one was on me,” Beer admitted, looking vaguely ashamed. “He was a last minute replacement.”
“We’re serious this time,” Mick said. “We found someone normal. Kinda chill. Sorta handsome. Sometimes smart.”
“Wow, a real unicorn,” Fang said. “Do they also floss and recycle? Actually… do they know how to walk and talk?”
OR: Fang agrees to go on One Last Blind Date, despite pining for his secret crush Tan.

“Still don’t like tomatoes?” Boom asked after a while.
Aou blinked. “Huh?”
“Your brother tried to make me eat your leftovers again. Said it builds character. Don’t worry. I defended your honor.”
They were nearing the gate to Aou’s neighborhood now. The rain had softened to a light drizzle.
“This is good, right?” he asked. “Still walking home like this. Feels familiar.”
Aou forced a nod. “Yeah.”
Boom gave a small smile. “Glad we’re still friends.”
That word - friends - stuck somewhere in Aou’s ribs.
That night, he lay in bed with his knees curled up and his screen brightness low. He opened his Notes app and wrote one line:
i don’t want to be his friend.
OR: Boom is Aou's older brother's best friend that Aou definitely, totally, absolutely doesn't have a crush on.

Warich crossed his arms across his chest. “I’m not taken.”
Klao laughed - just once, short, bitter. “Wow.”
“I didn’t say I’m single either,” Warich said. “But we’re not- I don’t know what this is. You don’t either.”
“I do,” Klao said. “I know exactly what this is. It’s me, showing up again and again, and you letting me in just long enough to either get fucked or fuck with my head, then freezing me out before I can say anything that matters.”
“You don’t say anything that matters,” Warich shot back, voice rising now. “You say you’re angry, you say I’m selfish, you say the same shit every time and none of it actually means anything.”
“It means I want you,” Klao said simply.
Warich leaned back against the counter, arms folded, face hard. “You don’t want me. You want to own me. There’s a difference.”
OR: Klao and Warich fuck and fight - wash, rinse, repeat. They aren't anything. Really. Maybe.

The girl blinked at him. “Are you sleepy still?”
“I told you not to wake him up, sweetie.”
A moment later, Boom appeared, holding a glass of water in one hand and a pill packet in the other. He looked… domestic. Soft hair. Sleep creases on his forearm. A slight lean to his stance like he’d been up and moving for a while. Comfortable. Familiar.
Aou blinked again, slower this time.
“You hit your head yesterday, remember? During the shoot. Not serious — just an action scene that didn’t go quite right. Doctor said you’d probably feel foggy for a few days.”
“Who is she?” he asked before he could stop himself.
“Ceri,” Boom said gently. “You named her. Don’t you remember?”

Fuse let out something between a sigh and a laugh. His voice had gone hoarse. “Don’t tell anyone, please. Seriously.”
Aou stood up again. “I wasn’t planning to. You think I’ve got time to go spilling your secrets for fun?”
“I think you could,” Fuse muttered. “Out of spite.”
“I’m spiteful,” Aou said. “Not evil. Come on.”
Fuse frowned. “Come on what?”
“Get your stuff,” Aou said, already turning around. “You can crash at mine.”
Fuse blinked. “What?”
“Don’t make me change my mind.”
OR: Rich boy Fuse's family goes broke. Naturally, Aou takes him in (begrudgingly) and teaches him how to make it as a broke person.

“There is a child in my home.”
“...What?”
“A little girl. She walked in. She called me Papa. She’s dressed like Ceri. She said she is Ceri. There’s like… very convincingly photoshopped pictures of us with her in my living room. She’s asking for toast.”
“Is this a prank?” Boom asked, his voice suddenly clearer.
“That’s what I’m asking you. Did you set this up?”
There was rustling. Boom was moving. “You’re serious?”
Out of the corner of his eye he saw the girl stumble hastily down the hallway towards the bathroom.
“Wait- hey- where are you going?”
“To brush teeth,” she said without looking back. “My toothbrush is purple. Like grapes. Daddy said that’s your favorite color but he’s wrong. Your favorite color is black.”
She vanished into the bathroom. Aou stood in the middle of his living room, the silence ringing like a high-pitched whine. His heartbeat climbed - not in panic, but something more unstable. Boom’s voice through the phone pulled him back to reality.
“I’m coming over.”
OR: Ceri may or may not suddenly be a Real Human Girl showing up on her Papa's doorstep!

“You colour-coded my exes,” Fuse said, holding the folder like it might bite him.
“I grouped them by psychological weakness,” Aou replied, utterly serious. “Blue is insecurity. Yellow is jealousy. Red is ego. I don’t waste time.”
Fuse blinked. “You’re terrifying.”
Aou sipped his coffee. “Thank you.”

“Why do I look like you?” Boom demanded, gesturing wildly to his - Aou’s - face.
“Why do I sound like you?” Aou said, staring down at his - no, Boom’s - legs in Boom’s favorite navy shorts.
Boom pointed to Aou’s reflection. “That’s my body.”
Aou nodded slowly. “That’s my body.”
Silence.

Rome didn’t respond. Just adjusted his headphones and leaned slightly into the controls, face dipped in cool white light. It wasn’t that Rome wasn’t interested. It was that he thought he knew better. Like Raffy was some lost puppy with abandonment issues. Like he was sloppy seconds waiting to happen.
Fuck that.
He pushed off the wall, tugged at the collar of his shirt, popped open another button, adjusted the fall of his chain.
If Rome wanted to pretend he wasn’t looking, Raffy would give him something to look at.

Aou tilted his head slightly, brows knit. “Boom? Why do humans kiss?”
Boom choked.
“Is it an exchange of information?” Aou asked helpfully. “A physical confirmation of mutual emotion? A ritual binding?”
Boom wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. “Why do you think everything is a ritual?”
“Because it is repeated,” Aou said, as if that explained everything. “It happened in the movie I saw the other day as well. In these stories, it is the climax. The resolution. Sometimes even the reward.”
“People kiss because they want to. That’s it.”
“But what does it do?”
Boom sighed. “It feels good. It tells someone you like them. Or want them. Or love them. It can mean different things. Affection. Desire. Sometimes it’s just comfort.”
“Physical intimacy as emotional shorthand. Noted.” He paused writing, then glanced over, looking serious. “Have you kissed someone?”
“What? Why do you want to know?”
“I am curious. You seem very… guarded.”
OR: Boom finds an alien in his backyard, names him Aou and teaches him how to be human. And maybe falls in love.

Aou was now sitting at table 10. Close enough to hear him laugh again. Close enough to make Boom’s brain short-circuit when he crossed one leg over the other and leaned in with his chin in his hand like he was modeling for a magazine.
He absolutely should not be this interested. He came here to prove a point. To show his friends that dating was a rigged game and Boom had no tokens left to spend. But now he had found someone who seemed... genuinely too good to be here.
People like that don’t go to some speed dating event unless they’re collecting souls. Still. He snuck another glance.

The words didn’t feel sharp. They weren’t flirty, not really. They were, as everything was about Tan, exactly what you saw on the surface - transparent, honest, light. Curious, maybe.
Fang forced a shrug. “Why would you say that?”

That kiss hadn't felt like practice. It hadn't felt like acting. Hadn't felt like any of the dozens of kisses they had traded before - practice kisses in condos, scripted kisses witnessed by countless crew members, fanservice pecks on a cheek here and there, meaningless in the grand scheme of things. It had felt like something got shaken loose from his foundation, like he was desperately trying to hold the doors of an overstuffed wardrobe closed that were threatening to burst open at any moment.
