Jeno is an average high school student, with good grades and good looks. Since possessing them, some of the students hate him because they believe he thinks of himself as high and mighty as a result of them. He works part-time as Jaemin's English tutor. Jaemin is just a student who struggles with learning and enjoys playing around because he feels that he should celebrate his youth and play around as if it were his last.

It’s maddening, and Jaemin thinks that in that moment of time he’s never wanted something as badly as he does now.
He grips the pencil he’s holding a little tighter, and brings it to the paper in front of him. He looks up, only to realize Jeno’s staring right at him already. Jaemin holds his gaze for a few seconds, eyes scanning over Jeno’s body.
Fuck, he’s beautiful.

Jaemin takes offense immediately. “What? All of us are single.”
This time, not only Donghyuck but even Renjun gives him a look that’s so judging, Jaemin almost actually feels shame. Doesn’t change the fact that he still doesn’t get what they’re insinuating. That aside, the words about the day take their time sinking in, and Jaemin lets several minutes pass before the gravity of his error finally clicks in his mind.
“Oh my god. I set a work appointment with Jeno. On Valentine’s Day. What if he thinks it’s an actual date?”

Summary
Despite how long they’ve known each other and how Renjun has witnessed the entirety of their longstanding feud, he just doesn’t seem to get it. Renjun doesn’t get how Lee Jeno’s soft smiles are empty facades put in the face of their rivalry because he knows it irritates Jaemin. He doesn’t get that Lee Jeno snatches up extra study spaces and research opportunities just to get in Jaemin’s way. He doesn’t get that this grant they’re both after is reserved for just one person, the top of their department. He doesn’t get that Lee Jeno is brilliant and an actual threat to Jaemin. And he certainly doesn’t seem to get that Jaemin refuses to back down in the face of challenge. He just doesn’t get it.
Or:
Jaemin and Jeno are masters students battling each other for the same grant. When Jaemin finds himself stuck with sharing a study room with his long time competitor, he’s forced to come to terms with the fact that maybe there’s something else between them other than just deadlines and rivalry.

The casual normalcy of the conversation actually makes Jeno more apprehensive than calm. He has to remind himself he’s in the den of his media-inciting enemy, not picnicking with a friend. So he decides then on the basics of a plan: collect evidence of Na Jaemin’s hoax and discredit him.
