Summary
Here’s the thing—Robby has never seen Jack in anything beyond a platonic light. They have known each other for years, a span of time in which Jack was married, then widowed, wherein Robby started and stopped (albeit, entirely by her decision) dating Heather. They are friends. Best friends.
Then, three nights after the Pittfest disaster, Robby wakes up in a cold sweat, dimly aware that he has just had a sex dream about Jack fucking Abbot.
______Robby realizes that he's in love with Jack Abbot, and they figure their shit out.

"It's officially Veterans Day." Parker swiveled in her chair to look at Jack, going mock-solemn as she intoned, "Thank you for your service."
"You're fired," Jack instantly shot back, the damn traitor.

"Tell me something that brings you comfort."
"Something that brings me comfort?" Robby shot back, his tone mocking the frivolity of it, because he never was one to just follow directions.
"Yes," Gene said, eternally unfazed. "It can be the smallest thing, whatever comes to mind."
What came to mind was: Pens games, the trails at Frick Park, the rare book collection in the Oliver Room at Carnegie Main, a cortado at Sage Caffe. But what he said was: "Jack."
...wait. Shit.

Summary
Robby doesn't think Jack could possibly ever want him, not if he knew. He has been there too many times in the past, he knows how it always goes. He doesn't need to add another one to the list. So he turns him down. Even if it kills him inside.
Jack fell for Robby the first time he saw him, the first time he found himself under the gaze of those soft brown puppy eyes. Right then, he knew he was gone for. But alas, it seems that Robby is ready to reject him at every turn. Unless…
“Hey, Jack?”
“Hm?” Jack turned his head to look at him.
Robby could hear his heart beating loudly into his ears. He could still backpedal, say anything else. Or he could take the risk.

Summary
“Come here,” Jack instructs again before surveying him. “Actually, before you do— Take the rest of that off, would you?”
Glancing down at his shorts, riding high and tight on his thick thighs, Robby asks, “What, really? Why?”
“Why?” Jack asks, kicking out to run his heel down Robby’s thigh to his knee, barely able to reach with how long his legs are, still so far away from him. “Now you’re just asking stupid questions.” With a little kick to Robby’s thigh, he says, “Off. Clearly my words aren’t getting through to you, so shut me up, sit on my face, and let me show you how fucking hot you are.”

Summary
Robby says, eyebrows drawn up his head, "Are you seriously trying to goad me into having a mental breakdown right now?"
"I'm not trying to goad you into anything you don't want to do. I'm just saying that a good cry helps anybody. Especially after a day like today."
/
Jack says with patience, "Breathe deep. Relax your face. Drop your hands. Listen to that pain in the back of your throat. It'll get bigger, and louder, and it'll tell you what it wants you to do. Listen to it, and let her rip."
Or,
Jack Abbot succeeds in goading Mike Robinavitch into having a (safe and controlled) mental breakdown after the events of S1E15.

Summary
Weeks later, long after Mila has flown to Philly, a thick envelope waits for him. Her handwriting arcs across it in precise, flawless calligraphy, and delicate flowers, hand-painted in soft watercolors, frame the edges. Robby picks it up, smiling, and then freezes. The first line reads:
"To Mr. Michael Robinavitch and Mr. Jack Abbot"
The words hit him square in the chest. He stares at the impossible, spectacular, irrecoverable lie he’s created. And just like that, he knows: he is utterly fucked.
Or: Robby pretends he’s dating Jack when he comes out to his sister. Now Jack is his plus-one for her wedding, and he seems more than happy to keep up the act.

"If you really want to know, the hot new thing is an app called findr. It's for bougie professionals who like to pretend they're elevated while slobbering all over each other, so entirely your speed."
At that, Robby lost his war with self-control and did flip her off.
Ellis actually laughed. "The vision," she said again, dark eyes dancing. "findr," she said again, like he might have forgotten. "Go fuck away the raincloud, Robby. For everybody's sake, but mostly mine," she drawled as she sauntered away.
